Free in-house Delta Pilot Job Fair

There's no one question.

It's an introduction to a conversation about the qualitative aspects of the applicant.

Something, perhaps that they can relate with. My friend is part of a larger group of similar people with compatible interests and they're always looking for people who, no matter what their walk of life, are able to form a team with.

Any good evaluator is always searching for his replacement. Always.

I can't give you the answer because there is none.

I was wondering what specific question he asked that could turn him from a meh candidate to a standout not because I want to ask the same question but because I find it extremely difficult to believe that story unless the question was a real doozy. Even then it's just hard to imagine.

Edit: not trying to say you're telling a story btw.

Do some research about the company you are interviewing with. Ask about something recently published.

Some examples:

"With the recent announcement of the new Haneda slots, how is that going to affect the Narita hub?"

Or

"With the coming addition of the A350s and more point to point Asian flying, what effect will that have on the Interport flying?"

It shows you have a deeper level of understanding about the company than just, "I'm a pilot. I can fly. Hire me."

There is no question in particular. It's how people do when they meet in person. When I volunteered for interviews at XO it was pretty obvious who did or didn't have the whole human interaction thing down.

I'm not asking for that. My point is I've never in my life formed an opinion of someone that was changed by one question or comment. My curiosity has just got me wondering what one comment or question could do that in that one specific instance.

Again, not looking for advice on what one SHOULD ask.

Cool.

You know what curiosity did to the cat, right? :)

The misinformation is strong.

If you get a group of pilots, sequester them to pilot internet websites and pilot lounges, sprinkle in some frustration and say "THE SKY IS PINK" long enough, you can have Neil De Grasse Tyson walk in, do a presentation on how the sky is actually blue, with foot-stompin' experience, you've got a 26 page debate going on every time.

A lot of people aren't looking for information, only confirmation of what they surmise to be the truth. That was a bitter pill that I had to swallow years ago.

Honestly, I just get so mixed up with what I've heard from this guy and this guy and read on this site and this other site and I can't even remember what we determined to be BS already (except for that $500 guy, I think we figured out he was 2 legit, 2 legit 2 quit.)
But I'm not worried about score or points or apps or tier1 or any of that at this point... my takeaway is that (once I meet the mins in a few months) I'm just going to have friends look over my app, maybe have a reputable service look over my app, do a little prep to smooth any rough edges but not so much that I don't sound like myself or over gouged, and just be myself. Hopefully DL runs another one of these next year and I'm able to snag a slot, if not, I'm sure a dedicated applicant will eventually get a chance to speak to them... The rest is up to the universe, a little luck, maybe some timing and maybe ...I'll get by with a little help from my friends...

How dare you come here and tell us this news! Unacceptable! Job fairs are lame! Stupid! How dare they try to do the right thing and add 200 more FREE slots for aspiring Deltoids.

(Ok everyone, I got it out of the way for you this time. Carry on)
