AA Wholly Owned Upgrade/Flow

I'll take the cold ANY day over that swamp weather anyway. I'm just not able to adapt to the heat, and find pretty much any outside physical activity to be unbearable.

Skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking and so on are quite enjoyable in the winter though.
I gotta get some fat tires and appropriate clothing for that time.

Currently about 75F and a little muggy, looking at weather later in the day.

Looks like Envoy will be getting some raises. I expect the other two WO to follow suit. No details yet but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

From the speculation I've read:

+$40 /hour first year FO pay plus retention bonuses will be made retroactive to all FOs currently on property. FO pay scale will increase for every year.

+retention bonuses for CAs electing to flow to AA

+new Mercedes Benz C-Class for new hires upon completion of IOE and 6 mo the on property.

Can anyone explain how the flow works, and is it guaranteed or can it be rescinded if the economy crashes/fuel spikes etc..?

Nice try, but the first year pay and retention bonuses make it unbelievable!

:D

The flow is contractual. But so was the flow for the original Eagle guys. If the economy tanks or fuel spikes, I believe it will still continue (albeit a little slower) because of the massive retirements over the next decade at mainline. But it is dependent on American needing to have classes and new hires. If American isn't offering a class, WOs aren't flowing.

You don't interview at mainline, and you don't need a degree to flow. It's great for those who have been at the WOs for a long while and have had difficulty getting out. It's great for those on property because it generates continuous movement on the seniority list. That being said, anyone hired at one of the WO regionals today, will be so many years from flowing to mainline American that it really shouldn't be a huge consideration in your decision. The only way I would seriously consider it is if AAG drastically increased the amount flowing from the WOs enough to basically make it a true 5-6 year step up to mainline and then provided a track record of following through and putting their "money where their mouth is" so to speak. But so much changes in this industry so quickly, and the next few years are going to be a wild ride for those at the regionals. The flow is a nice thing to have in your back pocket while you apply elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. Thinking of a lateral move at this point. PHL base, 15k, 1000hr captain and flow in the pocket are very appealing.

If PHL would be an easy/no commute for you and you could upgrade quickly then I say go for it. You'll be on reserve but if you upgraded at your current regional then you'd probably be on reserve too. TPIC time isn't what it used to be but it still sets you apart from the thousands who DON'T have TPIC. And if your regional is parking airplanes and primarily flies 50 seat jets without a solid future more than 2 years out I'd definitely say go for it. There isn't going to be much growth left anywhere at the regionals over the next couple years so if you want TPIC and have an opportunity to upgrade quicker somewhere else then go for it. The DEC thing has pretty much run its course at the regionals I think.

PDT has been unable to fill DHC8 CA positions and the company has made it known that it will seek to fill these positions via DEC.

And depending on what happens at 9E over the next months in terms of potential fleet growth, it's not out of the realm of possibility to have DEC at 9E.

PHL makes my commute 1.5 instead of my current .45. Captains pay is a $21.00 an hour jump in pay for me in the first year alone. Think I know where I'm going but still wondering what are the biggest negatives about working for the WO's, specifically PDT.

Any sources or is this just rumor?

A very strong rumor. Its been flying around the companies all day, with alleged comments from union heads about draft emails and documents being finalized with the details and announcements to follow today or tomorrow.

Still all speculation at this point.

Thanks for the info, keep us updated! I wonder what this would do to the new hire and referral bonuses.

Fingers crossed the pay raises dont work and we keep the 80s longer. They already announced they are keeping more 80s for longer but haven't said the end date. And I believe the new agreement with republic parks more of their planes. All good things.
