Skywest Questions

Jeez, 140...unfathomable. Well I was talking to a E170 ORD FO today who said he got off reserve eight months after IOE, so if you are ORD based, Fox, with any luck you will get a line soon.

Same for me, and that was for one month before I went back to being a composite lineholder. Right now anyway, ORD isn't the greatest place to be junior. I left for PDX and would still comfortably be a lineholder even if magically every CRJ pilot there transitioned to the ERJ overnight. Even if junior guys go to SFO/LAX/PDX, etc as reserves they're going to fly more with the more reasonable reserve coverage. I'd suggest it for guys that don't particularly care to stay in Chicago and want to have a better chance of actually having their 1,000 SIC by the time their seniority can hold the upgrade.

Is that just in regards to the ERJ or are you talking CRJ as well?

I cant like this enough. For every person that has transferred out of ORD, a Transition has come in. In 5 months I have stayed static even with movement above me because of the transitions. All the growth is going to be out west, so if you want the 175 go West. If you want ORD, Go on the CRJ.

Oh and if you want to transition over to the 175 thinking you will get a better schedule? September pairings include such lovely places as TVC, DSM, CVG, DTW, MSP and most recently.... MKE!! We are now a -200 haha

I can only speak for the ERJ, I think CRJ guys are pretty much getting lines right away. That said, they have a much harder time dropping trips. If I want to drop a turn or a trip on the ERJ it's almost guaranteed I'll be able to do it. If I had a line.

Hey now, the one thing MSP has going for it is a pretty legit hotel gym. Other than that, I don't get why people make such a big deal about being next to the mall.

So if I want to stay close to ORD once I hit my TT, CRJ is the way to go eh?
Probably, unless you want a permanent vacation on the ERJ which I wouldn't recommend if you want hours and to make more than minimum guarantee. That said the 175 is a great airplane.

Eh... I've been on reserve for 1 year on the ERJ and credit about 105-110 a month. And I'm only flying 20-50 hours a month. Not a bad gig. But if you've got the itch to fly a lot you'll be disappointed.

I just pick up on my off days which goes on top of min Gar...

I was rarely ever able to pick up anything on reserve, unless it was a horrible standup. By the time I got through it was already assigned.

Sorry to hear that ORD didn't work, man. How much flying are you doing out there at PDX with a line? A lot?

Haven't started out there yet, but I'll have to see what PDX gives me. A lot of high credit locals (PDX-MCI, etc) but I don't expect to hold any of those. Probably going to get well acquainted with SJC and SAN, which is fine by me.

Have to get pretty deep into the top 20 to start seeing those long locals.

The Sjc overnight hotel is just down the street from La Victoria, the 2nd best taqueria in town. ;)

Hey guys new hire CRJ here(in class). May be getting junior manned into the ERJ. I know the ERJ reserve is awful right now but what is the consensus on what it will look like in 6ish months with all of the new planes coming on line? Anyone know what the junior bases will be? Was really looking forward to all of the movement on the CRJ but **** happens. Already posted this on APC but trying to get as much input as possible.

I think it depends on where you want to be based. If it's a Delta base CRJ would be my choice. United or Alaska would be the ERJ. Untimately no one can predict the future and the CRJ movement is mainly in the eastern Delta bases

Well, in the last bid, E175 in Denver went way more junior than the CRJ. Also, if you want Portland or Seattle, it looks like E175 is the way to go. Portland will be E175 only soon. If you are trying to get SLC, MSP or DTW, well the E175 isn't going to help.
