You can't upgrade if you're seatlocked? I was under the impression that this only applies to lateral movement ie E175 FO to CRJ FO.

Nope. Seatlock is seatlock. Only way out is if there's "company need."

That being said, being bypassed means no seatlock which is great.

Just be sure you get 1000 121. I lucked out and snuck in as the plug on the next award due to a guy from my newhire not having the time (long story, don't wanna give stuff away about him, hes a great dude)

Wow! That's an interesting dynamic. Congrats on the upgrade! On the CRJ I hit 1,000 121 time in 1 year and 3 months.

506 on the CRJ so far.

I wish. For me TT is the name of the game. I was told when I came to the 121 works to take the first class, so I did. Come to find out I should have waited for the next CRJ class instead of first available. Oh well, live and learn

It's gotta be a weird situation right now, I wouldn't expect it to last.

In the meantime enjoy your high paying trips you jerks... I'll just be over here doing min credit 5 leg days ;). (Okay an exaggeration, but not by much....)

How does vacation time work? After IOE do you have to build it? Is it pretty tough on new hires for your first year of two?

The more you work, the more vacation time you build up. You don't start building vacation time till 6months with the company. Your balance will show 0 vacation time until you get to your one year. After one year, you can use vacation time and you bid for it.

Note that you can use it strategically - the yearly master vacation bid - and tactically - by requesting days prior to the monthly gold/vac deadline. And you can also use PTO (user or vacation) to buy yourself off whole pairings, consistent with available reserve coverage.

In a year how much vacation time do you build?

Alright. Based on your credit hours, you accrue:
- after six months, 0.385/hour
- after five years, 0.462/hour
- after ten years, 0.577/hour

See SP 3011, if you're really curious, for accrual rates beyond that. You're capped at 80.0 hours per semimonthly pay period on the vacation accruals (this matters to simulator instructors, for the most part, but not to anyone out on line) and may not use your time until 1 year of employment is completed. My bank usually hovers around 50 hours, because I use PTO on the regular. I credit 80-100/month for reference.

Master vacation bid opens 01Nov and closes 20Nov. A change in category will result in your awarded vacation going buh-bye unless you can hold the blocks you had in your previous category.

AND...

If you have a gazillion (or just a few if you don't foresee yourself getting sick ever) user time hours, if you have a block of 3 days off or more, you can add user time credit on those days off. This adds to your monthly credit, which equals more money AND more user/vacation time accrual.
