King Air N92JR crashed tonight short of the runway at PWK.

We were just through there an hour or two earlier. Did a couple turns holding on the localizer waiting for a small cell to move off final, but it was a relatively benign evening while we were there.

Hopefully everyone got out. There have been too darn many aviation fatalities the past week.

I always hate seeing King Air accidents because I always picture how I would get trapped in our tiny cockpit.

Everyone walked away, good news.
Looks like 5 more gallons of gas would have gotten them there.
liveatc.net KPWK audio archives from 0100-0130, then fast forward to 23:50 into the tapes.

Fuel starvation, seriously?
The flight was less than 400nm.

That's an expensive way to get yourself out of a job. I don't hear about Pt 91/135 operators running out of gas too often... I assume something like this haunts your career for a while?

Talked to some friends that work at PWK, said that props were feathered and it was very quiet landing. And of course the media is calling this guy a "hero"!
