Your OKC Hangouts

Texas boy had to laugh at this one -- Cheese sauce with the salsa! We call it queso. It's pretty amazing stuff, you can even mix it with your salsa and dip a tortilla in it. It's also why I'm surrounded by an extreme amount of fat asses, so don't fall in love with it!

Yeah. I went to college down the road from the first Taco Cabana. There's a reason why San Antonio has the highest proportion of obesity in the country.

Checked out the local amusment park ( frontier city) this past weekend and had fun. its only 35 for a season pass so if you are here for the summer and like rides its a pretty good deal.

You sir, have got some big brass balls. I drove by that place on my way into town, and the rides look like they're just WAITING to end up on "world's most shocking video" on SpikeTV.

*Edit* - Actually, any amusement park surrounded by a single, six foot chain link fence is just nature's way of saying "no."

After day classes= Emerson Biggin's, Louie's Sports Grill, or Zio's
After night classes= Buffalo Wild Wings

Brick Town kinda stinks imo. It's all meat market and the women in OKC are generally pretty conservative so it's kind of a huge waste of time:P.

You can't go out and just talk and have a good time because everyone thinks you're out to pick up women, and if you are out to pick up women, well they're not that type of woman so you're not going to have fun either.

Rokk Bar was probably the worst. My recommendation is don't go to bricktown unless you're with someone or just out to check it out.

You could get numbers if the place was a little quieter.

The best time I've had out so far has been Rodeo. Ted's was okay but in no way amazing. Henry Hudson's is a pretty decent hang out bar and if you're into sushi Shiki is a must attend - the ninja rolls are amazing.

are you from mobile
we do have some fattys here
Nope, I'm from Arkansas.

However, I think it's a southern thing. We're all food [censored]s compared to the rest of the world. We deep-fry everything and have portions big enough to feed a small African country for three decades.

Oklahoma City resident here. I'm only going to say this once. Best bar in OKC is called:

HAWAIIAN DON'S

Find it. You won't be sorry.

You're welcome.

DUDE! I DROVE BY that place when I was "exploring" last week, and I have just been SEARCHING for an excuse to go.

Thank you.

Haha, don't listen to him. Hawaiian Don's is one of the most white trash bars in OKC!

Definitely not a white trash bar. I wouldn't hang out in a spot like that. Don's has a mix of all kinds of people. They've got decent prices, karaoke on Thurs. and Sat., and it has that "Cheers, where everybody knows your name" feel to it. I mean, Don, the guy that owns the place, will probably be the guy to serve your drink.

I enjoyed visiting a cigar bar/blues club by the riverwalk called Maker's Cigar Bar. Great music, great cigars, EXCELLENT service!! If you go, tell Mike hello for me!

Maker's has a nice decor, but I never turned back when they charged me $9.50 for a regular, old LIT.

Depending on where you're coming from, Ted's isn't the "best" Mexican and has a lot of hype. Not bad, but not over the top either. On

SUSHI - Sushi Neko is great! http://www.sushineko.com/index_false.html
PIZZA - Nobody here (locally) has good pizza, do they? None of the locals eat anything but Domino's, it seems.
PUB - James E McNellies Pub http://www.mcnelliesokc.com/ (Patron shots are $8.5 NOT $6)
FINE DINING - Mickey Mantle Steakhouse http://www.mickeymantlesteakhouse.com/
SEAFOOD BUFFET - Riverwind Casino - Friday Night, $24 http://riverwind.com/

Lake Hef is great for a BBQ and has picnic areas set up with benches and built-in bbqs.

Seems I'd have more suggestions in 3 months here?

Does anyone have any other suggestions for hot wings besides Buffalo Wild Wings? It isn't bad (there are a few back around Atlanta) but it isn't anything special.

County Line BBQ over on NE 63rd next to the Cowboy Museum has some excellent barbeque. Their prices are not too bad either. They have excellent pork and beef ribs, along with some awesome sausage.

I second the recommendation about Cattleman's. Steak there was excellent, it has officially become my steakhouse of choice in OKC now.

I had a nice time at the Redhawks game last night (AAA Minor League). General admission seating is $10. Stadium is very nice and the non-reserved seats still have a good view of the game.
