YGBSM Question

Weeeeeeeeell, it's not trucking.

I feel you and fully relate from where you're coming from, but they haven't quite hit "rock bottom" yet in terms of recruiting. Close, but not quite to that point.

Telling a recruiter I'm not interested in doing an RJ course as a condition of hire, and assuring them I would not come unprepared = Billy badass and telling them off? What world do you live in?

It's your online persona and perceived attitude... I see the same thing Mike does. I like you... Have nothing against you, but the attitude you're projecting, intended or not, seems bad. Please take this in the manner it was intended... Just constructive criticism.

It's the avatar isn't it? LOL

Good luck. Even more to those that'll stick their neck out for you.

desertdog71 who did you talk to at Eagle? As far as I know Eagle would have paid for the course. You should have sent me a PM instead of making this thread, I just spent 3 days (Giving IOE from the right seat) with a very higher up management pilot (Think the type that flies 30-40 hours a year and has VP in his titles). One of the departments he is over is manning and recruitment.

In the (JC-appropriatized) words of Sergeant Hartman, you'd better march into ground school prepared to be squared away and start pooping us Tiffany cufflinks.

That said, I get where you're coming from. It's tough to make the changes from the outside, though.

I PM'd you a few days back asking how to get the call from them. It just so happened that they called. I spoke to Richard in recruiting and he made no mention of Eagle paying for anything. I told him no, based on my unwillingness to pay for it. They need to be a little more specific if they are going to ask these questions.

How it should happen is, interview, then say hey we noticed its been a while since you've been employed in aviation and we'd like to send you to an RJ course to help you get back in the saddle.

That is not how it was portrayed to me though, and I made the assumption it was on me. He even pressed further about renting a plane.

Plus I actually called and left him a message to call me back, so that point could be clarified. After that possibility was brought up here.

How long have you been driving a truck?

I wouldn't take it personally. They haven't flown with you, and if you haven't flown regularly in a period of years, they may not want to sink the money into your training if they're not sure you'd keep up. You could be a great pilot, but they don't know that. They're just looking at the resumé.

What dasleben said.

Besides, if we do actually run into a situation where we're running short on pilots, it's going to about be the same. There are lots of people, much like yourself, who have been previously qualified that left the profession that will be looking to make the jump back in once the "Cash 'n Prizes" becomes competitive with other industries.

Been driving truck for 13 years, took a break to play pilot for a while. No, I'm not a great pilot but I'm not a donkey either, and I have been through 135 training twice and 121 training once before. I'm not jumping in blindly and have no clue.. That is the part I don't understand, but you know what? I'm not going to sweat it until all these places say no. As it stands though the job I really want is not a 121 job and they said they would interview me with a fresh IPC. I'm going to do that and hopefully it works out. Good thing is that job evaluates you in an actual airplane and not a box.

If that doesn't work out, I have PSA, TSA, SKW, Mesa, AWAC all offering.
