What this website is about

Great thread starter JTRAIN.....I've been wanting to attend the NCJ's for the last few years, but now that I'm back in the good ol' US of A, I'll be there for sure this year....pending an unforseen flare up in the Mid East. I look forward to meeting a bunch of ya'll. Even gonna bring the wife along....though I'm sure she will get bored with beer drinkin' and flyin' stories (there I was coming in on his six :-) ) She's very supportive and would love to meet up with folks from the website that occupies a lot of my time. Look forward to Vegas, baby....WOOHOO.

If your over 18, you can attend...we do hang out in other places than just bars/casinos! Tonyw usually offers a group hiking trip...and we are always meeting in restaurants of which your more than welcome to join!! :)

FUN! Maybe it should have been obvious, but I was a little surprised that you guys just might talk about stuff other than aviation. I guess I've been hanging around my local airport too much. :p

Doug's map shows way more people in the MSP area than I thought there were. Cool.

We're a little bit like a flying version of 'glocktalk.com'. :)

Great discussion ya'll, I'm glad that there are some other folks that agree with this.

So check it out, two little known facts about me and JC:

-The people I've argued with most in the lav are the guys I get along best with when we hang out. If you think what's been going on in the lav is ANYTHING, you missed out around April of 2003 when all hell broke loose down there. Mpenguin, montanapilot, FL270, donttouchanything, davetheflyer vs. me, R2F, TonyW and a bunch of other liberals. You think TonyC writes a lot? I was posting term papers on the effects of democratic globalism on a weekly basis. If you guys think that the guys in the lav just argue with each other, you're sorely mistaken. Heck what a lot of people don't realize is that me and Seggy could POSSIBLY disagree on politics more but the dude's like one of my best buddies EVER. That guy has gone to the ends of the earth for me and I hope I can do the same for him one day.

-THERE IS NO INNER CIRCLE. Here I'll say it again so ya'll can hear me, T H E R E I S N O I N N E R C I R I C L E.

Does everybody understand that?

The only people that have ever talked about JC cliques, the inner circle or the JC elite have NEVER been to a networking function EVER.

So show up!

October 21-24.

Keep in touch with the NetworkJC forum under JC Events...

we'll be announcing the official NJC Vegas hotel shortly.

That sounds like fun. As long as it works with school I will try my best to come.

It's cool that you guys are bringing all this "we're cool with newbies" thing to the table. I've KINDA felt like an outside just because I haven't personally met any of you. Whereas you guys have all gotten together at the NJC... I guess I can only blame myself for not attending... but anyway, its good to let everyone know how welcoming the JC crew is.

But its true what a couple people have said... it seems like there are a lot of people who know each other on the threads and they throw the inside jokes back and forth.... so I'm always like "what the hell are they talking about?" Another thing is that I hold back on things to say just cause I'm not sure how some of of the members are gonna take it... who's cool? who understands crude humor? who gets offended easily?... etc........ um... yeah.... that's all folks!

Great post jtrain, and one certainly I took heart too.

I recently only joined this forum a few months ago and one of the greatest aspects of it is the "homey" feel it has when compared to flightinfo or APC; I much prefer this forum to theirs.

I would love to do the JCNetwork thing, but I'm only 21 in college trying to get through my CFI while taking 17 hours of classes. So, on one hand I would absolutely love to come meet and hang out with everyone, but it really depends on when the time of year it is (spring break or summer) if I could attend; not to mention the costs.

Perhaps there could be one in the central part of the US? Dallas or perhaps? There has to be a good amount of us that live near the central part to get down to Texas. I could fly down to Dallas in about an hour.

really??? wow.. now i really am getting concerned!! that's not at all how we try to convey things around here and people try to do meet & greets all the time too...so GDP, you've been here a pretty good long time, what do you think we can do to convey or improve our "welcome with open arms" attitude or do you think it's just not gonna change much since some know people IRL and NET while others dont?

Another thing is that I hold back on things to say just cause I'm not sure how some of of the members are gonna take it... who's cool? who understands crude humor? who gets offended easily?... etc........ um... yeah....
that's just not something you should be worrying about because in the end, you'll offend 1 person, make 2 spew coffee all over their computers... 1 will tell you about how much he likes eggs and 5 more will want to argue over your point...so technically there's no reason to even bother worrying about that stuff.. it goes as it goes and you should just speak up and talk...don't worry so much about what others think because it doesn't matter.. what matters is what you think and feel about an issue...

would Chicago suffice? we are working on Chicago.. and if you take a look at the NetworkJC forum, there are folks who are willing to donate buddy passes..some, i think, are even willing to donate half the cost to get you there depending on how far away you are.

There's a LOT of JC folks in the Dallas area...if not at NJC, then you should definately try attending one of their meet & greets!!! just keep in tune with the meet and greet forum in the JC events area and they'll spark up another M&G in the future.

Thanks Kristie.

I'm really trying to see what I can make happen with the NJC07 in Vegas, depending on how much the airline ticket is over there and where we end up staying.

I don't think there's much that can be done about welcoming people.... this is a very welcoming site as it is and its not like you can just tell people to stop making inside jokes... its all in good comradery. Besides, I like seeing people argue about stuff I just dont get :-p

It may just depend on the person... like me... it may just be that I'm more introverted on this forum... thats why I can't wait to drink it up with you guys and let lose, haha

"so I'm always like "what the hell are they talking about?"

Don't worry about it. I think that to myself all the time and I've been here a while...

E6B.....got to looking tonight for flight costs from OK City to Vegas and the lowest was $308 with a layover in SLC and $361 for a straight shot there and a quick layover in Phoenix on the way back. If you get strapped for the ticket....see if you can hook up on one of the offered buddy passes.

Every now and then, there is a meet and greet in the Dallas area...haven't seen one in a while since Kell, Brett, and JTrain have been gone. I know FROGGY would meet up for a beer or three :-) right FROG? If they do a meet and greet in Dallas, I'll hook up with ya for a portion of the flight or gas for the drive.
