What have you done to further your career today?

Yup. Right choice at the time, happy I did it, but you compass people have my scratching my head.

I work at California Pacific, check the avatar!

:)

Also don't expect DTW to stick around at Compass. I heard a rumor that it continues to shrink every bid.

Although I've gotten myself up a level in the last few moments, I've already began the search for the next BIG gig. Now I have 8 months to find it!

Did a phone interview with the CP today, and am moving on to the next round! Local part 91 gig, pretty big step up from the regionals.

Like every corporate/charter pilot, I'm in search of that dream 91 gig. I've seemed to have found one in South Florida and have my eyes set on getting on there! So far I only know of one of there A&P's. I'm going to see if he can put me in contact with a few if their pilots.

MSP is closing too.

My bet on bases will be LAX/SEA/SLC/DFW within 12 months.
If Southernjets moves the 717 out to LAX, watch for Compass flights to be reduced. The notion is being looked at seriously by network planning and revenue management. Just need some more aircraft on property to pull the trigger.

It's bound to happen eventually, it's just a matter of when.

Updated my airlineapps times to current as of today and completed all the addendum for the airline I really want to work at!

Going to call a few contacts today and catch up!

Consider it electronically delivered. I'm sick of sitting on the sidelines waiting for something to happen TO me, time to go MAKE something happen.
I'll be pushing you and John both if you don't get it in gear. I made it back, you guys can move forward too. I'm here to help if you need anything.

@Derg always says that you need to be doing something every single day that helps to further your career toward your eventual goal.

So with that, what have you done today that will help you move on?

Today I updated my times on AirlineApps.com.
Hmmm...good question.
I lost my job of 15 years in May, and immediately thought about getting my CFI and going to AK to instruct and look for a floatplane job, but I ended up getting a temporary job near Lansing as an airframe mechanic instead. I'm still doing that right now.
I still haven't been able to find a long term permanent job and last week I was given a WARNO for deployment. So, right now my life is kind of unstable and on hold, but while deployed, I plan to study for the CFI and CFII writtens (again) shortly before returning to the US, then I'll probably file for unemployment and go to the flying school at Colorado Contrails to get my CFI and CFII and look for a job.
I'll be 46 years old when I return from this deployment, and I still want to do what I've ever wanted to do. Fly. I know it's probably not a practical choice, but the desire to fly professionally is the only thing that has remained constant in my life since I first learned to walk.
As a side note, I tried my hand at painting with all this time off I've had, and it turns out I'm not actually too bad for a beginner. Maybe I can do that for extra income when I get more experienced and know what I'm doing. I'll post my painting in a thread when it's done. It's about 95% done right now.
