I hate jewelry, watches included, only piece I will wear for the rest of my life is my wedding ring and that still annoys me. I have tried many watches and think a lot of them look cool but I hate the feeling of wearing them on the wrist.

If you're going to cite GP and Frank Muller, you're going to have to list them in the same price category and demographic as Rolex and Breitling. The reason you're not seeing mention of those other marks along with the likes of Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constintin, etc. is that the scope of discussion here is specially aviation watches. I don't think that anybody's first thought on the topic is how well the newest JLC Gyrotourbillon wears in the cockpit.

Quality can be found at all price points and all countries of origin. It all comes down to individual preference.

A senior FA was dicussing the clues to small size with a new FA; her list:

-Small japanese import with loud modified exhaust

-4 WD jacked up with big tires

-Wangler jeans with a big belt buckle

-And her number 1, a big watch :yup:
 
Casio G-Shock. So another vote for that watch from me.

I've been a regional pilot for over 8 years. I broke a Fossil watch several years back, somehow, at work. It was a great watch.

A few years ago, I got a nice Citizen non-pilot watch from my best friend for being his best man. I wore it every day. The face shattered INSIDE due to work.

Look, even as an airline pilot, you do some tough stuff. Whack your wrist on a handle while grabbing a manual. Wrestle and airplane down on a windy day. Sling crew bags in and out. I want a watch that can handle all that, not some fancy expensive garbage that will explode during a rapid-d.

I've had no issues with my G-Shock. This thing is awesome. Local time... Alarm... Zulu time... Stopwatch for running... What more do you need?

I should have flown freight. All this fancy crap is ridiculous.

I've got a Seiko Coutura Kinetic Perpetual. Never needs a battery, and gets charged everytime I move my arm.

Yeah the next watch I get will probably be the same watch I have, but the eco-drive model.

Freaking pilots and their jewelry.

If money is no object, then I would buy a 1900 and use the digital clocks in there, as well as the optional stopwatch (says Beech on it) on the yoke. If I ever need the time I'll go into the plane and look at the time.

Also the plane would come with an embarrassingly large stock of mid-grade whiskey and a supply of Pepsi and diet Pepsi. That way, I can drink while I check out the time and work in my gigantic workshop/garage/hanger and attached house.

Very true, also I usually monitor 121.5 and I even picked up two ELTs in one night X-Country (however, one was at an airport and the plane was parked with the ELT going off). But the other one was legit.

Seriously though, I do wear watches, and while any watch that has a second hand is great for flying, having a nice watch is fine if that is your thing.

I personally like the Ball Engineer Hyrdrocarbon Spacemaster, I think Ball makes great watches. I like Omegas too.

I've never managed to break a sapphire crystal on a watch, so if you are shopping on the lower end - keep that in mind! It is worth the extra cash.

I fly with this atomic g-shock. its great, i leave it on Z time when i'm flying since our entire schedule is based off of z time and we cross so many time zones...even on z time at the bottom it tells me what time it is back home so that eliminates math. i love this watch, and it updates the time daily so its never off. Cost me all of $80... I looked into getting a Breitling or Omega watch and decided against it for work because i didnt want it get beat up. i might get one as a casual watch, but definitely not for work.

I don't own an aviation watch. If someone was willing to buy one for me, I'd happily accept it (send check or money order to...)

I have a relatively old Bulova that my dad bought me before the turn of the century - has a chronograph. I also have a Casio that syncs up with the atomic clock and does Zulu time. Your own milage and preferences may vary.

There's something graceful about an analog presentation, I think.

I have two and love them both. Omega Speedmaster and a Ball Aviator GMT. The ball is usually what ends up being the work watch since its less dressy and half the price. I highly recommend either. No I did not buy them for what they cost but for their mechanics and lineage. People can easily spend as much on cigs, boose, and chicks over a few years. These I'll give to my children's children.
