US Navy ship shoots down first aircraft since it shot down an airliner

I’m fairly sure they do, but from what I understand it’s more to deal with the long standing pirate threats there and other places than this.

A cargo ship would need to unload their protection detail offshore along with all of their equipment onto a smaller ship before entering a port and then reload on the way out. I agree that ships should be able to defend themselves with something a bit more lethal than a water cannon against pirates with RPGs but international maritime law assumes everyone's a good guy.

These are both fair points. Agreed.

I’d think that some of these shopping companies would at least like to invest in onboard contractor security teams for shipboard defense when sailing through these higher threat areas.
Probably be cheaper than transiting around the tip.

There's a business opportunity there. Imagine a cruise ship providing an off shore safe haven for the private armies the shipping companies would employ to repel the pirates during transit. Unless you ruled it with an absolute iron fist it would quickly turn into a morass of violence and depravity. We like to think people are mostly enlightened and I'm not sure that's not true. But if you get a bunch of folks that think this is a good idea together there will be conflict. I should write scripts for video games, it's all fantasy right?

idk about you all but I’ve seen plenty of videos on social media of private security on freighters/tankers blasting pirates with automatic weapons
I don’t believe I’ve seen any manpads though

when that kool aid hits so good you can’t even taste it anymore

Say the Biden voters? Oh wait, post June debate, say the Kamala voters? Not sure it’s the Trumpers who are hitting the KoolAid. They’d vote for a piece of dog poop if they thought it could have beaten Trump.

But it didn’t. And he’s your next President.
