United Hiring (again!)

Applied, but haven't heard anything back after their third-party (Talogy?) "What best describes you?" assessment and video. Since the posting is now taken down, does anyone know if they'll post again in the near future? Or can I sneak my resume to someone in management there? :D

And good luck to all you people looking.

The UA groupa folks were in-credible if I had questions. The in-person tour was worth an extra night to hang out and go get a local feel of CHI, and as everyone's saying in the forums, now is certainly a good time. If you're still stalking these pages without a post history or even a username here on JC, there's a buncha locals, sure, but please feel free to ask away.

And if you're new to the license, ...just get the ADX over with. We all took it, and it still sucked back then. DRM is still a thing.

Good luck.

Can’t emphasize this enough. Everyone I talked to there was super kind. Bring a good attitude, smile and the folks there walking you through the process will do the same for you.

Also, if anybody is looking to shack up out in the Arlington area and save some dough, send me a message :D

Applied for the late Feb application, got info on the video interview maybe 10-14 days after, shortly after got the call for the in person assessment followed by the panel interview. Passed the assessment, did the interview (they were FANTASTIC. Really enjoyed myself and had a great time talking about the dx stuff), got my offer yesterday a week after the interview. Looking at a few crucial life/family items now, it might be difficult to commit if those don't go through on Monday. I will be torn to have to decline the position and it is what it is. The entire process has been amazing from start to finish. Whoever works there now and got the offer, amazing airline with great people and I wish you the best there. Btw, their NOC at Arlington Heights is BEAUTIFUL

With all of the classes, it may be worth a call to the hiring manager to see if you can defer to a class later this year if you can’t go now.

We thought of that but if the items we need are not negotiable on her end from her employer and items regarding our house then it would hinder us from moving.

Commuting is also an option... We've come too far to let this opportunity pass. Besides I would love to meet you in person, come start of classes on May 30th..... whoop whoooop!!
As Suggested above, there will be multiple classes this year, call the hiring manager and request for a different start date...
I am currently looking for accommodation options, lemme know if you have some options or suggestions on that front.

Oh and lastly.... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

This last year has to be the best time ever to enter world of DX. So many openings over so many carriers, this is incredible!
Wish I entered DX last year or before. I'll be starting regionals this year, so hopefully majors continue to hire this much in the next couple of years lol

This year (pending any big financial problems with the economy) yes. Next year possibly. Unlikely after that. The next biggest hiring cycle will probably when the post 9/11 hires start to retire. They mostly range from age 40-50 now. After that it's anyone's guess.

Curious to see the different demographics at each airline. I feel like the top 100-150 will retire in the next 10-15 years.

The classes being hired now are so young. Most of them will be there for 25+ years.

Before these last two classes of about 60 total which are mostly young, AA was close to 200 dispatchers under age 40. There are about 550 dispatchers currently on the list. It is closing in on half the dispatch seniority list under age 40. With age 65 average retirement age, few promotions, low attrition, you are looking at 25-35 years with over 200 dispatchers above you in seniority. If you are someone over age 30 now and want to work at AA, you will never see a seniority number above 250 which is about 50% seniority list.

Other majors are likely not much different with all the hiring that has been going on the past 5 years. It is definitely something for those considering the career to consider before getting the license. Getting the leftover scraps and what everyone else didnt want for the vast majority of your career might be worth the trade off for the good compensation but if QOL is important to you, this career will be rough going forward for new hires the next 30 years.

I would say if you get a class date with a major now, dont postpone the class date. Seniority is extremely important in this career.

I applied for the Dispatcher Position a few days ago and late last night I received the Assessment Invitation Email and just completed it. Is this normally a good sign? It is my first time applying at UNITED.

Finished my video interview, was kinda awkward but i guess it is what it is,
Haven't heard about anything else since, been 2 weeks now.at this time i think it be for the fall it takes 2 months to get all the paperwork etc done
