United Hiring (again!)

For this round of interviews (class date of beginning of April) notifications will be going out by end of Feb/first days of March. Not sure about the March class...

Oh...so they're just waiting to send the TBNT emails for the December interviewees until the end.

who knows... united is doing 4-5 more new hire classes within this year so maybe theyre still taking all applicants/interviewee's into consideration.

They just posted Flight Dispatcher today on their career site.

For someone that gets the position, is it at the tower initially and what is the likelihood of going to Arlington Heights?

All new hire dispatchers are now assigned to Arlington Heights with no option to work at Willis Tower. They may have to report to Willis Tower for OJT, but upon completion it’s back to Arlington.

Ah good to know, thanks!

Good Luck - talking with people I know, as I previously stated they are looking for 100 this year and found out they are looking for another 80 next year

As of today (not sure if you want to add the new-hires) what is the total dispatcher count?

I was told that there are 423 on the seniority list including the class that started this Jan. I'm sure some folks will retire this year and next but it looks like that is an easy 550-575 at the end of 2024 if this hold true

If you can get a recommendation from a captain or another dispatcher that may help you. It took me double digit tries to get an interview. Once I got that recommendation I got noticed.

Wow, that sounds tough.. Is it common to have difficulty getting an interview with a major? Or is this mostly a United thing? I was under the impression that majors in general are hurting for dispatchers and likely to hire folks with at least 1+ year of regional experience. Is that not the case?

Just apply.

Atta boy! Leeroy that Jenkins! Throw in an app; the worst you've got is staying in your head wondering what if.

...just make sure you're checking the app as you fill it all out and your prior experience isn't from the year 3011.

That is the case now. When I was looking at getting on at the majors it was a different time. Most wouldn’t look at you without 5 years experience , a college degree, and a bit of luck.

United's deal with the pay bump and relocation was only part of a 2-year contract extension, right? So they should be going back into negotiations next year?

I swear I read that on here, but can't find any posts about it.
