United Hiring (again!)

Well well.... Seems now Airbus is feeling the suck. Parts shortage is limiting Bus production to a crawl. Granted, this isn't a result of airplanes spontaneously disassembling mid-flight, so as soon as parts come available they should be able to pick up, but, surprise surprise, the shortage is largely driven by needs to maintain an older existing fleet....

The shoe really is on the other hand now, eh Kramer?
Correct me if I’m wrong (I often am) but I thought I read that the drop in Airbus production was from 75 units a month to 70? I wouldn’t call that a crawl per se.

Meanwhile the other guys are limited to less than 30 pending further FAA approval. Either way both companies have enough of a backlog to last them a few years if they stopped taking orders today. With the Farnborough air show only a few weeks away, that should be more of an indication of where airlines are at with where they want to put their money.

I can only fly to Chicago, pass the test, and fail the interview so many times. I've lost interest.
27th times the charm. I just kept throwing 💩 at the wall in terms of applications. Got to the final round on three separate shops (including UA) before finally getting my ticket, which wasn’t with the friendly skies but I digress.

(This goes for anyone)

It happens. Eventually. Just don’t make a bad name for yourself in the meantime. Don’t burn bridges. With the surplus of licenses and the shortage of jobs, it’s important to keep expectations at bay. Don’t be like me and start looking at apartments until you have an official offer AND a corresponding start date. (Just ask anyone in the latest WN hiring group, they’ll tell you the importance of having both lol.)

Best of luck to those going for it!

Give yourself credit. That test is HARD. Some of the smartest guys I know failed that test. I honestly don’t know how I made it past there when I took it. If you can pass that you can pass any majors test. Except maybe deltas wonderlic-esque test. That Sh-t is it’s own category.

In what way does Delta’s test differ from United and the rest of the majors lol

"lost interest"...we can't all play in the majors. And that's ok. I doubt I'll make it there. I'm an exceptionally direct person. That rubs most people the wrong way.

or notice that half the people who work in Dispatch are the kind of people you want to work with and the other half are the kind of people who sit and gossip like little school children all day long.
.
Dispatch is an entry level job. Everywhere.
.
If your whole goal in life is to get to a six figure salary, plan your little flights all day and be satisfied with that...great. Be a stepford dispatcher.
.
If you aspire to something more than entry/level...just do your thing. Be engaged, be excited, be yourself...and understand that there are people who will find that overbearing.
.
And above all, just be truthful.

I found the exam relatively easy and the panel interview was A LOT of fun. It was great to discuss the different situations with them and have interactions like that in a different setting. Lots of fun, of course with a knot in the stomach the entire time.

Would you recommend studying like you’re going to try to get over a 70 on the ADX? Or are the questions outside of the realm of the 1100 ADX question bank?
