United and American?

All of the old rules are out the door. I’ve been half expecting something like this for a little while now. Additionally, it seems like the airlines haven’t been too enthusiastic about developing new technology the past 50 years; there’s very little other direction they can go to remain viable into the future without a significantly reduced amount of competitors. Unless of course they start innovating again like the period between 1940 and 1970.

If this happens then Delta is buying JetBlue, Alaska and Southwest simply out of spite.
Spite merge would be epic. We could call it Latte Larry’s Air.

Possible names :
Varney Speed Lines
Western Air Express

And the liveries must be such. And fleets need to include Lockheed Orions and Stearman C3's (although any square tail Stearman is acceptable).

"We paid off the government. We do what we want!"

"Now with 12" seat pitch!"

"Legs and back hurt? Visit one of the 10,957 Buy N Large chiropracters located in every terminal!"

scooter just trying to dunk on isom by giving AA the Pretty Woman treatment after he got slighted
and also as previously mentioned probably trying to soft launch JB

I say no way Jose. Waaay to big of a potential merger and how that could clear anti-trust in an objective world is more than questionable.

I believe what you are looking for is called Trump Coin.

Considering how the DOJ rolled over on the Live Nation stuff I think you can see where the admin stands.

Honestly I could see an Alaska/Delta thing if this gets crazy. JetBlue, as you know, overlaps with Delta a ton. JFK and Boston alone makes that a tough pill to swallow. Having a crap ton of JFK slots would be interesting from a wide body standpoint if Delta ever decided to expand rather than just replace that fleet.

I just don’t see how you make hub and spoke work with a merger this size. There’s just so many overlapping bases.

NYC/PHL
IAD/CLT
IAH/DFW

Don't forget DCA and of course ORD. The overlap is insane for them. Delta/United makes far more sense but Delta isn't exactly desperate.

Of course a merger in general would just be nuts.

AA CEO has been silent so far. If this was total pie in the sky why isn’t he saying anything ?
Last I checked AAL was up 8% today with about an hour of trading left.

This.

If I were a Rockefeller I'd be looking to get the whole Standard Oil band back together. The Pitcairns (before pioneering autogyros and helicopter tech, and building kickass mailplanes to be used on routes that became Eastern Airlines) were owners of "The Glass Trust". They invented/perfected modern plate glass and by 1900 controlled 70% of the glass market thru their company Pittsburgh Plate Glass which is now known as PPG Industries. I've met a few Pitcairns at Blake'sburg when they'd fly one of their vintage machines (they love Wacos and are airplane freaks like me). No antitrust - we should capitalize!
