The wheels on the bus...

May I ask you what your problem is?

It's appeared to me you've had it out for certain folks lately, that's all.

Which is an observation and not a problem. By your question it also appears you feel differently and that's good.

Just for clarification...

Why do you not know who your LEC representatives are? It may be helpful for the future entrants to this industry to understand why one wouldn't know who their union representatives are.

Some context here,

I never have been, and likely never will be, the guy who is "in the loop" so to speak. I also can't stand political squabbling types who get off on arguing for argument's sake. I'm glad that there are the kind of people who run the union business, but it's not my thing. I've got more commitments at home than I can handle as it is, and I honestly am less concerned about the future of MAG ALPA than I am about how I'm going to build my wife's sewing machine table.

Having said that, I have done some research and I do pay attention to the crew room gossip. Many other young CAs and most of the FOs are less than thrilled by the union's leadership. MAG ALPA is basically run by the 250-300 lifer captains who have been here. Almost 1/3rd of the pilots couldn't vote on the recent TA because they were still in their first year, nor have any of us had the opportunity to vote for any of our LEC reps. I know several pilots who have volunteered for some of the committees and have been blown off. MANY of the pilots here feel betrayed by how hard our own union tried to sell the "well below average" contract back in the fall. That TA was shot down 4/1.

Right now, the focus of the pilot group is building their resume and voting with their feet. Quite a few CAs are already leaving for bigger and better gigs. Of the 8 pilots who finished training with me a year ago, 5 have already moved on. Attrition is picking up rapidly, and the company will likely not be able to staff all it's flying in the near future.

Update, I actually found out who the LEC reps are thanks to the facebook page. But all of the above remains basically true.

Good deal. Knowing who your reps are makes not a Union supporter. Even if you never have to use them it's still a good idea to know who they are.
