the official "waiting for FOL from MEM PEPC" thread

RVS is one of the busiest GA airports in the country. They averaged 967 operations a day last year. Get ready :)

I know, I'm definitely going to have my hands full. I was wanting OKC so I wouldn't have to move. I think OKC is a level 8 too, so I guess there isn't that much difference between the two.

I got a call today at 1852hr et from Elaine asking if I could attend a class date of October 10?! Weird, cause that is an enroute class start date and I'm slated for terminal. Sadly, I didn't realize I got a call so she left a voice mail so I'll call tomorrow to get it straight. Then I'll let y'all know whats the deal.

Wow I'm really going to OKC!!! SWEETNESS!

Congrats sQuirell!
Nice to see a fellow 2007 applicant getting some attention!:rawk:
What's up with the Enroute class instead of Terminal???

Thanks Charlee. I just talked to Elaine and asked about the Oct. 10 date being for Enroute people. She said you are in enroute. You are going to Washington Center. I said, I hope not. lol. Apparently, my paperwork said one thing and the computer said another.

She did confirm my clearances are good and that she will pass my stuff to the terminal people. I asked her when I might be called for a date and she had no idea. She said they are waiting on terminal class information to be setup. I'm not really sure what that means since we all know those dates are posted online, but in any event at least I know I'm cleared and should hear something soon.

"Holiday" note:

I asked her about Christmas break and she said our schedules will only deviate for Federal holidays. Right now that means we get Christmas off only and upon Executive Order we could get the day after off as well.

"Saturdays off?" note:

I asked about coming home for my sister's wedding (Dec 13) she said it depends on your class schedule which you will find out the first day at OKC. Weekends are supposed to be open for us, but sometimes labs are scheduled on a Saturday based on lab availability during the week. Of course she could not answer if the instructor would allow a change in my lab schedule if it came to that. Then I asked if I could push back my OKC date to January, said it depends on how desperate your facility needs you and who else is going to your facility. I may not have that option, but more info will follow once terminal classes are setup.

Ouch! Back to the old waiting game...

(can you imagine what would happen if you showed up to OKC:crazy:)

Totally dude, if I have learned one thing off of the threads it is to double check everything. Save any documents sent or received. It is almost like we have to know more than they do.

I will say this is their first error on my process so far.

Back to the waiting room.

I received a call today from my HR rep today and I start in OKC on the 8th of Sep and my FOL is "in the mail", She offered me a spot on the 28th of August but that is next week and there is no way. But it does show that you may have some choice about when you go, but not much. I was a FEBOT, I went to Memphis PEPC on the 24th of July and landed a spot in Cincinnati. Terminal obviously. Good luck to you guys waiting still, it will happen. I will keep everyone posted. It may happen faster than you think, I was hoping for some time before as well to hammer down on some finances but I would go in 5 minutes if that was all they had available.

See you all there.

I was at Memphis on the 24th (1100hr-1700hr) too. Maybe they are getting around to the terminal people now. That is good to hear. I guess some of us might get in before October afterall. Dang though Sept 8 is right around the corner. Although the thought of telling my boss I'm outta here today would be totally sweet.

I haven't gotten me class date yet, but someone going to my same Facility (SCK) is going on Nov 7th, so I am guessimating that is went I will be going, looks like I am going to have to attempt to get picked up at a local dealership for a couple of months.

I was offered September 8 on Thursday 8/14, received my firm via email on Monday 8/18, and my firm via fedex today (8/21) if that helps you.

Yea it was strange, my FOL seemed to be a blanket statement about initiating medical, background checks. As if some people are heading to class before they start the process.. It states that if I haven't initiated any of the required clearances that I will have to do them at OKC. I say strange because I went to the PEPC in MEM and did everything. But my FOL says that "Normally the medical evaluation and background investigation would have to be completed before you were scheduled to report for training, due to exigent circumstances however the decision has been made to allow you to report to the facility while your clearances are being completed."

SQuirell88, turning in my letter or resignation was the best feeling since I discovered girls weren't icky. I bet you are coming up soon too if they are shoveling us into OKC with or without clearance.

Now I am just a little nervous that I will leave my job here, report to OKC, and then about 4 hours before my final PV I will get cut loose because of a clearance issue. (not that I should have a clearance issue, but never say never).. Risky? Yes. Risky enough for me to pass it up? hell no.

WOW, that "tentative" background check just kinda irks me a bit. Part of me wants to get this done as soon as possible, and I know there isnt anything wrong on my check, but if there is some sort of mistake, or misunderstanding or something - wouldnt you rather handle then when you are still employed at your old job? I would hate to be down in training or at the facility trying to iron something out.....
We have all heard the horror stories of folks being let go down there while the rest of the check goes thru -

Hi, I attended the 7/25 MEM PEPC, so last Friday was 4 weeks from my TOL (References got their letters about 2 weeks ago). I noticed that everyone seems to be in touch with their HR Rep regarding the status of their clearances, FOL, and OKC schedule. Have they contacted you first or did you contact them? Are they cool with being contacted? I am dying to hear some news but I don't want to bug my Rep and get bumped to the bottom of her pile or something. I appreciate any advice! Thanks, Kurt

I originally emailed my HR rep at the 4 week mark for an update which she responded to within minutes. At that point, everything was in but my medical. Then about 3 days later, she called me out of the blue and told me everything was in and offered me a class date of October 2nd.

Call them, it seems that those who call the most get the quickest response.
