The Great Jumpseat War of 2019

Just out of curiosity, did OO ever get that jumpseat listing on OO operated Delta flights fixed? The one where it charges a pilot the 200+ fee to ride on their own plane if someone else is listed 1W with seats available?
Nope. And they don’t care, yet they’re all up in arms over this.

Yes but you asked why would UAL/UAX list like that... I was understanding the conversation to be UAL/UAX-E listing for a jump and flow to the back on let's say a Delta OO paint? Not UAL/UAX-E listing for the jump on a UAX flight.... Because you can double list anyways so...or at least gate agents have left my standby and added my jumpseat requesf
Might be the half-S'd writing then, as that's followed by "does this also apply to non-UAX flights?".

I guess on the surface, I don’t see the issue with mainline guys wanting priority on RJ’s in their colors that only do their flying, and in return offering priority to said exclusive RJ drivers. The non exclusive guys should get priority over OAL, but apparently there are details and backgrounds I don’t fully know right now. I live in base and sit in the right seat, so luckily I’m only a mildly interested 3rd party.

Full disclosure, I’m at an exclusive carrier that likes cheese and badgers.

My .02 (which isn’t worth a thing).

I am completely at a loss for how SkyWest, Republic, and Mesa think they have any say in the way their mainline partner wants to dole out its jumpseat priority. It is your jumpseat, but it isn’t your flying. If United or American or Delta want to change the way the jumpseat priority works on their flying, how is it that you think you have any say over that?

I will say that regardless of the fallout from this, the pilot groups involved are sending a loud message and people are listening... Recruiters, HR, etc... You know, the sort you definitely want to be sending a loud abrasive message to. I had never heard anything but overly positive words spoken about Republic crews by mainline and WO pilots until the recent spat. And now this...

There will be fallout from this. And unfortunately I think that the people who will ultimately suffer are the pilots at SkyWest, Republic, and Mesa.

I'm still a little confused on why there is so much attacking on the pilot groups involved. We had no decision in this. The way the internet keeps reminding us of how our career movement is threatened and future as an airline is threatened is being targeted at the pilot group? Can probably say over half of us did not want a jumpseat war....

I just really don't get the pilot v pilot thing

Well, AA is an "elected" representative
(Except LOL because he won by default when RJ dropped out.)

The decision to deny a jumpseat is a captain‘s. SAPA doesn’t have any authority.

It is also to be done in the interest of safety, not because you’re feeling your Cheerios that particular morning.

Well, I’ll always defend a captain‘s right to deny a jumpseat. For any reason. Just understand that there may be career consequences if you do. I know if I was at UAL, I’d make it my mission in life to ensure that any Skywest or Republic pilot who denied any UAL pilot a jumpseat would never work there.

I’m not attacking your pilot group. I’m just pointing out that we’re on the cusp of some very big movement from the regionals to mainline. And recruiters (read: pilots who may be affected by this) and HR have already taken note. It doesn’t matter if individual pilots aren’t supporting this effort. The message is the same and collectively it’s louder than any one pilot’s voice speaking out about the ludocrity. Losing the forest for the trees and all that...

No o

Well that’s a bummer. Hope this isn’t making your commute even worse
Yet to see. Commute to work is own metal at the moment but commute home is on one of said 5 airlines. So far as I can tell the only people getting “official” guidance to leave people behind is OO...
For the record, despite the bad blood between the companies. I’ve never been left behind or given grief on L-XJT While jumpseating. Never had anything other than professionalism and courestu through the years. Thanks to SAPA who knows if that will be the case anymore, and I wouldn’t blame XJT at all if it isn’t.
