On PJP the guy who posted this picture said it was supposedly a Lear 31 on the ILS 6 circling to runway 1.

UGH. Terrible. Hope no one on the ground killed or injured. Your life and the lives of others can be lost in seconds. Reporting is that only the pilots were on board. Very sad.

This LiveATC clip is also interesting, it starts immediately after the crash with the tower calling the airport closed sounding obviously frantic.

Yeah, they uh "strongly encourage" you to keep it tight. That, combined with the amount of metal they try to push in to TEB makes a circling maneuver totally inappropriate, IMHO.

Listening to that, it sounds like he was late on the turn, probably fully configured, with gusts over 32kts. Which would lead me to speculate, but... "not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent."

Well, I'm happy I called out sick today.

Anyone know what the winds were at TEB? I know it was windy as all getout today but I'm curious Of the direction. Because of TEB's proximity to EWR and LGA it's not uncommon to be on a less than ideal runway for the wind, as I'm sure many of you know.
