Seems to me that the proof of the Academy's success is in the results.....
Delta Connection Academy’s Jet Transition Course
Graduates More Than 200 Pilots
The Academy’s Advanced Training continues its successful flight path
SANFORD, Fla., June 17, 2005 – Since its launch in October 2003, Delta Connection Academy’s Advanced Jet Transition “Bridge” Course has graduated 200 students. The Bridge Course is designed to help Academy student’s transition from twin-engine training aircraft to more complex regional jet platforms.
In less than two years, the Academy has conducted more than 20 ground school classes and over 2,700 hours of instruction in their Regional Jet Flight Training Device, which is used to prepare Academy students to transition from the Academy to a First Officer position with their partner airlines, including the Delta Connection Carriers and American Eagle. The Jet Training Device introduces Academy students to today's advanced flight decks and provides training on systems such as Electronic Flight Information, Engine Information and Crew Alert, auto-pilot and Flight Management. In addition, the Jet Training Device offers a substantial degree of reality by featuring a three-channel projected visual system, two-seat cockpit, dual flight controls, a full navigation system, and an actual Collins Flight Management System software program. These systems allow student pilots to approximate the experience of an airline pilot during a simulated revenue flight operated on a modern regional jet.
“The Bridge Course has proven itself to be a highly effective training tool for our students and pilots who have trained elsewhere but need this type of advanced training to get hired by a regional airline,” said John McGann, director of Flight Standards & Airline Transition Programs at Delta Connection Academy. “From a student perspective, the transition from the small twin engine aircraft to the large, sophisticated regional jet is seamless. We continue to receive a tremendous amount of positive feedback from the airline training departments where our graduates have been hired.”
“Our partnership with Delta Connection Academy has been very beneficial over the years,” said Mike Piper, director of Flight Operations at Comair, a Delta Connection Carrier. “We appreciate the development of programs like the Bridge Course, which help ensure that Academy graduates possess the skills and knowledge to be successful in their initial First Officer Airline Training course and throughout their careers.”
Delta Connection Academy has produced more FAA-certified pilots in the past six years than any other flight school in the United States. A wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, the Academy has a fleet of more than 110 aircraft and has trained students from 89 different countries and placed pilots with 26 airlines. Graduates of the Academy are guaranteed a job interview with a Delta Connection carrier, American Eagle Airlines, or with other partner airlines.
