Stay at Atlas or leave for AA ?

If you are parking planes what is happening with the pilots?

I will say Atlas currently is very diversified like you said. It isn't a bad position but time can change things.

Transferring to the 747/777 to cover growth in planes/customers…though that was before tarifpalooza. Thankfully a lot of our new growth is hauling stuff from China to other countries.

I think that’s what’s a little different atlas compared to most ACMI carriers. We are so diversified in our customer base that we just broke up with Amazon and reduced our flying with DHL and it’s pretty much no big deal. This includes parking most of our 767s and all of our 737s.
Displacement bids aren’t “no big deal”, doesn’t mean those pilots won’t be ok in the long run though.

To me the question about Legacy vs ACMI is what’s your preferred schedule type for QOL. I’d hate to be gone 10-17 days, but others like having the large chunks of days off every single month.

Nobody is getting laid off, very few downgrades (with pay protection for a year). For getting rid of one and a half of our biggest customers I’d say it’s as close to no big deal as it can be.

It's less displacement, more shifting. All the people are moving to fleets that require a higher staffing numbers. I bet we will be hiring again before long.

The timing of the bid worked well because the people that didn't want the long haul stuff, they went to other airlines. So it kind of sorted itself out.

Thankfully very few furloughs during this hiring slow down. How much hiring is rumored?

How much from China to US?

UPS got the postal contract and has moved away from Amazon. Is Amazon flying anything anymore?
Abex seems to have picked up where Atlas left off with 767s, also I think ATI still only flies for Amazon.

If I were a betting pilot I’d wager no.
Maybe not for AS, but perhaps if Amazon looks to keep the North American A330 ops, someone like Natonal Cargo or even Air Canada Cargo might end up doing it. Money talks and most airlines are down to get funky these days. In NRT I had the pleasure of being hosted for a tour at the adjacent museum by someone who does order negotiations for Airbus and ATR in Toulouse. The airlines without dedicated cargo ops he told me that are quietly mulling over (or mulled over during the covid surge years) A330Fs or A350Fs for potential cargo contracts blew my mind (he wouldnt tell me who but I assume Amazon). Never heard a single rumor about anything he told me, so it must be true LOL.

Cash is king. Now more than ever.

As mentioned above Sun Country currently does Amazon flying. Sunny also has 330’s in their pay scale.

A330s? Wow that's wild and just shows that if AS doesn't want them, some random airline will. I've seen 8 or 9 SY Amazon 737s at MSP at once last time I was out there, that fleet must be growing.
