Stay at Atlas or leave for AA ?

I find that when somebody starts defending a position they don't need to defend, it's a really interesting insight in to their psyche.

"Honey, I noticed we were out of bread. Want me to grab a loaf? I'll be near the store."

"Well see a couple days ago my sister came over to let the dog out And she was hungry so she made herself a peanut butter sandwich. I didn't get more myself because I saw clients late yesterday."

"........."

"So we're out of bread"

".........."

Basically this:

I've flown with several people who left Atlas. They were all happy they made the jump. All have younger kids and already lived in one of our bases or moved to a base.

If you love your job, the airplane, the places you fly, most of the people you work with, the schedules and the pay is good I'm not sure why you'd leave. If you're currently unhappy with some, most or all of the above you may want to consider making the jump.

I skimmed most of the thread and believe I saw someone mention that the Florida-MIA commutes can be rough. Lots of commuters. Also with our new contract the reserve system is pretty much entirely seniority based. During the peak flying months scheduling inefficiently eats up reserves like candy and everyone flies. But during the off peak months the junior pilots who can't hold weekends off and have an early RAP seem to be flying more than the senior pilots. You mentioned take the first upgrade, if you don't mind getting used a lot on reserve it wouldn't be a big deal for you.

Good luck with your decision.

I feel this way about people who are over the top with an obvious opinion. For example, 99.999% of people agree that pedophiles are awful. That’s not really a groundbreaking opinion, so I’m a little suspicious of the guy with the “kill your local pedophile” sticker on his truck.
I’ve always just assumed it was a dog whistle for the freaks who call LGBT people pedos and groomers.

And uh before I derail this, to the OP I say: I don’t know which gives me the heebie jeebies more right now, being at the bottom of a 19k pilot list or working somewhere that does business with Bezos. Good luck whatever you decide, like most of us you’ll know if you made the right choice at 65.

We don't do business with Bezos. Or not for much longer.

We have a couple left, plus the 737s. But it should be all gone in a few months. Right now we're in the middle of training all the people from the realignment bid.
Are all the 76s going or will you keep some or all of them doing non-Amazon stuff? I just saw my old FO who’s on the 76 and he didn’t say anything about having to go back to training.

How about the bottom of a 5k list soon to be acquiring business with Bezos?? Oh wait, that’s us, my bad.

It's going to bounce back and forth, CONSTANTLY.

I've gone from moron to genius to moron to genius (repeat) the last 27 years.

Yeah, I don’t have warm fuzzies about that part of the combined airlines. Nothing I can do about it though 🤷‍♂️

Truth. Very little we can control so what’s the use stressing over it right? I just hope you and all my other Alaska local co workers can get closer to home soon. My sim partner (ANC local) thinks he will be able to bid A330 before he can hold ANC 😬😬
