Spirit Airlines Strike Update

So, in a recent FA new hire class the DO spoke. When asked about the pilot labor strife and why they would want the pilots to have below average industry wages, the reply was that because Spirit pilots are below average.

WOW.

Dear Local 1224 Crewmembers,

The pilots of Spirit have authorized their MEC to call a strike should the NMB release the pilots to engage in lawful self-help. In preparation for this action, should it occur, we have attached the resolution by the Spirit pilots with their definition of struck work; please familiarize yourself with the provisions of this document in advance.

I continue to urge each of you to lend your full support to the Spirit crewmembers. Our continuing support will have a positive impact for our profession.

Fraternally,

Captain Joseph Muckle

WOW.

That'd go great in a counter-ad in the newspaper:

"Why are our fares so low? Because we offer below average fares, with below average planes and below average pilots"

Then reference what the CEO said in clear print.

I'll be down through FLL on the 12th to walk if you guys are on strike.

I had thought about going down on the 12th if the strike is going to happen.

Would it be in bad form to show up in my QX uniform, even though I'm furloughed? Thought I'd run past you guys before I made any sort of plans.

I've seen plenty of furloughed guys picket in uniform. I'm sure they'd love to have you walk the line with them.

I'll be in both DTW and FLL on Thursday and Friday. Hope to see some of you there.

I'll be in the NE on the 14th and 15th (until I depart). If anything is shaking in the JFK/EWR/LGA area I'll be on it.

Hopefully management won't overplay their hand and will resume negotiations.

I'll be there in my ExpressJet uniform on Thursday in Detroit, and I just ran it past our P2P guy and he said it's no problem.

See you out there.

Excellent, if I don't have any trips come up then, I will be there (Ft. Laud) in my uniform. Just cross my fingers that the boss doesn't have somewhere he just "has" to be...lol
