A lot was revealed in the road show. There is so much misinformation about the TA around the Internet because people are weighing in who don't know the current contract to compare and contrast, don't know the history, don't know what the pilots voted in the Wilson poll as their priorities and don't understand math or law and just spout off.
I listened to someone spout off about how he needed his 150% overtime because he counted on it to ensure that, as a senior captain, he made $200,000 to support the building costs of $500,000 on his house (plus the cost of the land, etc). He said he didn't care that, by doing that, he was keeping furloughed pilots on the street. It's all about him. They explained that, with the new contract, people would not have to fly overtime to make more money. He didn't care. He wanted more money plus the overtime. That's not going to happen without giving something else up.
We also talked about what would happen if there was a PEB (apparently there was so much consumer pressure plus constituent pressure on Congress that this piqued the interest of the White House due to an airline being shut down completely)--that it would be an arbitrated contract based on industry standards. Since, no one else has mandatory 4 days off, the #1 desire to keep in the Wilson poll would go away. We'd lose our QOL that we covet as a pilot group.
And if we strike again, the company is free to impose Contract 9000 which eliminates all scope whatsoever amongst all the other horrific things they wanted to impose. What do you think Franke would do? Do you think he will play nice?
