Fellow Pilots:
It's May 12, 2010.
This morning, the NMB released our pilot group into the 30-day cooling-off period required by the Railway Labor Act, as amended, prior to lawful self-help (strike). The exact date and time of a lawful strike will be determined by the MEC, but can happen no earlier than 12:01 a.m., Eastern time, Saturday, June 12, 2010. It is important to note that the above date and time is THE EARLIEST DATE AND TIME ALLOWED BY LAW FOR A LAWFUL STRIKE TO BE CALLED.
THE ACTUAL DATE AND TIME WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE MEC BASED ON NUMEROUS OTHER FACTORS.
As we move through the cooling-off period, it must be stressed that we are in a STATUS QUO situation. This means that both sides must continue to honor the current contract without exception.
Your strike operations center is now fully operational and is prepared should further negotiations, as yet unscheduled, fail.
We have an informational picketing event scheduled for tomorrow from 11a.m.––1 p.m. at our corporate HQ in Miramar, Fla. Plan on attending.
More information will be disseminated in the coming hours.
Stay focused, stay sharp—and fly your contract.
