Some hot chick walks into a turning prop

Two people are abducted: A) Young, attractive, blonde, affluent white woman from the suburbs. B) Middle-aged, inner-city, unemployed black man. Who leads that night's local news and is on every milk carton in the state within 48 hours?

It may not be right, but it's how it works.

Here is another one that only made the news because she has blond hair and blue eyes.

what's the name of the girl that that Van der sloot killed (allegedly) in Aruba?

and by the way the Nancy Grace and this gal don't count as mainstream media 24 hours a day, this is a specialty market.

Here is another one that only made the news because she has blond hair and blue eyes.

...and why in the world do you guys jump on SC? She didn't bring it up until post #59, while I first questioned it on post #13. What's the matter? No one dares to call ME a feminist?

Wimpy girly men, all of you.

[h=1]Lauren Scruggs Is Walking After Plane Propeller Accident[/h]http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20551881,00.html?hpt=hp_t2

Lauren Scruggs, the model and blogger who was severely injured in a plane propeller accident on Saturday, is making strides – quite literally – in her recovery.

"Lauren walks!" reads an update on her Caring Bridge website, posted Wednesday. "This morning ... the physical therapist assisted Lauren in walking for the first time."

"Once she got halfway there, she said, '30.' Not sure what she meant, [her family] asked her what that means, she replied, 'Steps!' What a praise, she was counting every step that she took!"

On Monday, Scruggs marked a milestone as well, speaking for the first time since the accident.

But the 23-year-old (who lost her hand and underwent several emergency surgeries on her face and shoulder after she accidentally walked into the propeller) still faces a long recovery period, the Scruggs family spokesperson tells PEOPLE.

"The left eye is still non-responsive, the doctors will continue monitoring it for the next few days," the Caring Bridge update reads. "Please pray [for] Lauren as she begins to learn the extent of her injuries."

Lauren's father, Jeff Scruggs, told Good Morning America that he believes his daughter, who had been flying around Dallas in the two-seater plane, went to thank the pilot when she accidentally walked into the propeller.

She did the hit and run thing... Yes. One post. Good on her. We'll call her the post antagonist.

Oh, I hardly think I was the antagonist in this thread.

All of this tantrum throwing by a woman in the forum who does not fly, does not have a pilots' rating, and lists "poking sexists with her girly stick" as an interest? It's like walking into a bar looking for a fight. Of course you'll find one.
1. "Tantrum"? It's so cute when boys do this - any time a female shows displeasure she's "excited" or "throwing a tantrum." Le sigh. Please show me, if you don't mind, the tantrum part of my post (with comparisons to other posts that are in agreement with mine so I can see how what I wrote was so different and "tantrum"-y.)

2. No pilot's rating - I've been here for a while, and Doug's known the whole time that I'm not a pilot, or even a wannabe pilot. I think he'd have booted me by now if it were a problem.

3. I admit it - "poking sexists with my girly stick" is a hobby. But here's the thing: I don't actually poke them with sticks (that is, I don't actively seek out sexists and try to get them to be sexists just so I can call them out on it - that would be "poking with sticks"). Instead, I simply point out disgusting examples of sexism when I see them, and those who are the most guilty of sexism/chauvinism tend to get the most riled up, as if they'd been poked with a stick. There's nothing I can do about that.

That my intolerance for the kind of thing I saw in this thread bothers a few people (and that the intolerance expressed by the male forum members didn't bother a few people) is super revealing. (But not surprising. After all - sexists hate it when women get uppity.) But that's a side issue.

Most important is what Steve C wrote:

As long as we sit around saying "that's how it works" nothing will change.

And it should change.

BL is, show a little respect towards someone who has suffered a traumatic event and the injuries that went with it, regardless of who they are, in what by all accounts is a tragic accident. Consider that if it was your loved one, how you would feel reading or seeing some of the peanut gallery commentary contained in this thread.

I take issue with your use of the pejorative "girly men," as it implies "female" = "weakness," or that to be called "girly" is to receive a High Insult.

;)

Well...duh!

At least I didn't call them gay.
Or black.
Or Muslim.
Or....

....wait for it....

....Dutch.

If I walked in to a prop tomorrow, would my epitath be "funny looking skinny guy walks in to a turning prop"?

Wait, don't answer that.

No, no one would give a crap because you're a white male. You probably wouldn't even make the news, equality is sweet, as long as some can pick and choose.

awesome...a martyr for SC to push her feminazi agenda...sweet!

totally! You're S-M-R-T.

But it's apparently also Steve C's and Bumblebee's (and others') agenda, too. Or are you calling them mindless followers who have been ensnared in my sneaky, feminist trap?

Bah. Getting off track in the worst possible way, distracted by the likes of this. Good news about the healing in the article posted above.

Look guys. If they're going to keep cooking and cleaning for us, we have to at least pretend to think they're human beings. You have to look at the Big Picture.

I HATE being politically correct...I usually find that if scenarios aren't blatently sexist/racist then they're made that way by someone claiming that it is...even if its not (or at least just in bad taste). ACLU is great at doing this...

More tasteless hodgepodge:

After this incident she's probably gonna be way more famous then if she didn't get hit with a prob...just sayin

also...I'm not sure if it said the type of aircraft? what was it?

Is that what decency has been re-named? "Politically correct"? When did that happen?

No one's talking about hypothetical maybe-racist/sexist scenarios, but an actual sexist scenario. (But I agree there are times when people play the race/sexism/reverse sexism/racism card when there's no call for it.)

Right... way more famous as a person who got mangled by a propeller and whose "fame" will end once that story gets old. Way cooler to be "famous" for that than for being a success at what she was doing before (she was apparently just making her break before this happened).

I'm sure she's thrilled - you should visit her in the hospital on one of her breaks from physical therapy and tell her how lucky she is to have lost a hand and possibly an eye.

Also, you can probably glean from the posts in this thread how very fortunate a woman is in our society when she isn't considered attractive. People are so kind to them, so interested not in their looks but in who they are... it's really pretty awesome to be an ugly chick. Everyone says so.

also...I'm not sure if it said the type of aircraft? what was it?
Do you not know how to use Google? Or is your mom not home to do it for you?

SeatClutcher-

Its one of you...everyone get a participation award kind of person...can't say anything these days without thinking its sexist or racist. And thank you for renaming "politically correct" as decency, again just proves that point. No I'm not gonna censor myself so you don't get offended...get over it!!!!

As for the girl, it was a terrible accident and I hope she heals the best she can, considering doctors think she will probably lose the eye now.

as for the tasteless hodgpodge: yeah its statement and its definitely true...she would have become more famous if she had died...nothing cements a legacy more then a premature death. I do poke fun at it because it is harmless, only folks like you who think such statements are less decent then if I said lets pray for her (not even gonna touch the religion aspect, 'god' did enough in that aspect)

As for asking what type of plane it was; I find it sexist for you to assume that my mom should be home at that time...lets tear down social norms ok, some people don't have a filter. Keep playin the sexist card...I know I would if I could

Hey now! Assuming men can't play an equal role in assisting their children with technology is sexist. :D

Does darwinism not kick in with people? Like.....That thing is loud and dangerous!!!!! Damn I'm not going near that!!!!! I feel bad for her, but does loud noise and spinning objects not frighten people?
