Some hot chick walks into a turning prop

Well, she's going to live, but she won't be pretty anymore.

That's ok though, because like all beautiful women she knew that beauty never lasts, and therefore spent her whole life working on how to be a good, interesting, talented, kind, and well-educated person. That she lost her beauty before her time is irrelevant, because for someone like her superficiality was just a means to an end. She has a whole lot more going on, I'm sure.

I could be misreading this, but it sounds like sarcasm. Yes?

Was she somehow more expected to "spend her whole life working on how to be a good, interesting, talented, kind, and well-educated" person because she was pretty and her beauty would fade? How many others do you know, good looking or not, who spend their whole lives working to be "good" and "kind" (especially when such traits don't tend to advance you financially)?

Articles about her do suggest she's actually pretty strong, character-wise.

Kristin, I was absolutely being sarcastic, and you are absolutely right.

whenever I am flying and a passenger has to get out with the prop still running, I ALWAYS say "don't walk into the prop" before they get out. It may sound stupid, and they always give me funny looks after I say it, but they for sure haven't walked into the propeller yet. I'm sure this tragedy wouldn't have happened if the pilot had said something similar.

Tram, there wouldn't be a thread about it... because there would have been no news article about it.

A few twists and turns aside, that seems to be the gist of the last ten pages anyway.
