Social Media and the job hunt.

I mean, if I had an interview at Google, would I print up a bunch of Google business cards with my name and Database Analyst Applicant as the title? No, because that would make me an idiot who blew a job at Google. But no one ever accused pilots of not being idiots that screw up simple tasks.

Some observations. All that material you're asked to bring is scanned in a document feeder. Having to cut the binding, remove it and then scan, especially when they asked you not to is an inefficient use of time.

Additionally, every company on gods green earth today trawls social media. Especially Facebook and it's part of the evaluation process because it's freely given information that's widely available.

Both the manager of pilot selection and the manager of pilot development and a bunch of pilot selection/recruitment pilots and HR update, monitor and answer questions so when you do ridiculous stuff like "LOL light chop", "that's dumb", whatever, what do you think is going to happen? :)

And other selection teams from other airlines monitor the public feed as well, which is the hilarious part.

Never once posted to Deltas page:

You can post to Delta's page. Just don't say anything you wouldn't say sitting in front of a panel of 8 pilots interviewing you, obviously. Just demonstrate that you can exercise basic common sense. That's it.

Man I can't believe some people. The page they send you specifically says "do not bind"o_O

As for the logo thing...about 7 months ago someone on RST did it to his logbook and it went from there...even the RST hauncho was saying it's a good ideao_Oo_O:bang:

Right, but at best it's neutral and only goes down from there. The only winning move in the game of "comment on Delta's posts" is not to play.

I don't think that's a risk for a normal human being, honestly. Yes, you aren't going to get positive results from it, but if you just stop being a weird completely un-self-aware pilot for 5 minutes and post "Wow, gorgeous A350" and "Thanks for the information on what not to do with the binder." or "Thanks for clearing up that question about traffic tickets." you really have nothing to lose, either. Frankly, if you are the kind of person that needs to not post so that you don't say something weird and negative, it really shouldn't matter because they're probably going to establish that within 5 minutes of the HR interview, so you lose either way.

It's some pretty salty guys on that post. Seems like some of them have deeper issues than not getting picked up by Delta. Probably the same guys that will complain the whole flight about how they can't get hired for whatever reason. Locking your page down is one of the smartest things you can do. It took a crazy ex going through my friends list and messaging them for me to go through all my settings to lock my page down so everyone couldn't see my friends list, post, etc.

Like #teamhat? Thinking you're saying you wear them to be cool but not realizing you're mocking one of cultural things a certain airline is "all about"?

Yup. I will say his program is nice. It sure helped me out, but a lot of the people on the FB group copies what the guy/gal before them did. I mean, if it worked for them is HAS to work for me? Smh.
