New Look Reflects Airline's Strong, Forward-Moving Direction Within Industry

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - 05/21/10) - Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ:SKYW - News), today announced a new brand identity that reflects its strong, forward-moving direction within the regional airline industry.

"Our people have made big improvements in reliability over the past three years, and we consistently surpass monthly and quarterly goals set by our major partners for on-time performance, flight completion and customer satisfaction," said Brad Holt, president and COO. "We will continue to build on this momentum, and our new brand identity reflects that commitment."

Atlantic Southeast operates more than 80 percent of its flights through Atlanta -- the busiest airport in the world -- and has improved overall on-time performance by approximately 10 percentage points over the past three years.

Holt continued, "We are serious about consistently providing quality service for our passengers and our mainline partners. Our new brand identity illustrates that we have expanded beyond a single mainline partner and that we're ready to take a leadership position in the regional airline industry."

In addition to the new brand logo, Atlantic Southeast's website, www.flyasa.com, has been completely redesigned and includes the airline's "Live connected." brandscape video. The site is designed to provide useful, easy-to-find information for passengers and features the new Being Atlantic Southeast blog that explores stories of life behind the scenes and on the front lines of Atlantic Southeast Airlines, in addition to useful tips for travelers. Downloadable elements of the new Atlantic Southeast brand identity are also available on the website.

About the new Atlantic Southeast Airlines brand identity

Color: Red is a historic color in the Atlantic Southeast brand. The shade, PMS 1797, is strong and bold.

Aircraft: The aircraft shape represents regional equipment, and it flies beyond the box to show the dynamic future of the organization. Its position represents the airline's geographic roots in the Southeast.

Forward-angled box: The "forward-angled box" represents the strong, forward moving direction of the airline's business.

Grey bar: Represents Atlantic Southeast's partners that the airline works with to be successful.

Name: The full name clearly states who the airline is and is a source of pride for employees.

Tag line (Live connected.): Atlantic Southeast empowers people to live and work where they want, while allowing them to live connected to the people and places they love.

I don't understand why companies that don't serve the end user bother to do marketing. Seriously, does anyone think that Joe Twelvepack is going to say, oh, cool, the next time I have to take a Delta or United feeder, it's GOT TO BE ASA!

Hell, man, they probably don't even know that it's ASA. Ask someone on that plane what airline they're on and they'll say Delta or United.

And most people won't give a crap either way as long as they save $2 on their roundtrip fare.

PMS. And it's a shade of red. Um, I'll let that one speak for itself. Just expect scheduling to give you an extra hard time once a month. :)

The others have been doing a good job on this one. I've got nothin' else.

Grey bar: Represents Atlantic Southeast's partners that the airline works with to be successful.

But why grey? Because of contract language that both sides can exploit, or are they favoring United over Delta? Dun dun DUUUUUN.

Name: The full name clearly states who the airline is and is a source of pride for employees.

My god, I hope Pinnacle never tosses out something like this. It would rank right up with "We fixed it."

As long as there's space available on that Delta/United flight....


Honestly, all I see is another airline management team trying way too hard. After the hype, I was expecting a new identity, new paint schemes, maybe an actual branded operation. A re-launched website and a new logo, to me, isn't "re-branding."

You know when you in business class on an international flight and they bring the nuts, bread and butter out to start a multi-course meal? Well this was the nuts, bread and butter. The main course is just around the corner.

The suspense is killing me. Are they going to start handing out bread and butter on ASA I mean Atlantic Southeast Airlines flights instead of Biscoff? I can't say I've ever flown ASA I mean Atlantic Southeast Airlines but I assume they hand out Biscoff on the Delta side. This would be HUGE news and I'd definitely fly a different Delta regional or bring them along with me. Bread and butter doesn't cut it for me. How much bread would there be? How much butter? Would they be proportional? What happens if someone likes more butter than others?
