Skywest Questions

How are things over on the CRJ side nowadays? I made the move over to the ERJ about a year ago anticipating that I would get the upgrade...looks like a 4 year upgrade as of now with the way that things are gearing downwards. It was a dumb decision on my part in hindsight. So ...I'll be upgrading on the CRJ soon.
Class date?

Hey all, I have a class date coming up this winter (CRJ) and hope to be hitting the line in March. I will be commuting out of east-central FL, and am looking for domicile suggestions both out-of-training (looks like ORD DTW DFW and MSP are potential options), and longer-term.

Being coastal FL, there are lots of options to fly out of:

I'll be about:
20min from MLB
40min from MCO
1hr from DAB
2hr from TPA
2hr from JAX
2hr from PBI
2.5hr FLL
3hr MIA

It looks like I'll have to fly out of MCO, JAX, TPA, or FLL (or MIA obviously) to get to any domiciles besides ATL.

Thanks!

The prospect of driving 2-3 hours to then commute by plane is insane. You're commuting from MCO period.

Take ATL and fly out of MLB.

Thanks, that's definitely the plan. It shouldn't take too long to hold ATL.

In the meantime any best guesses on what would be the "easiest" out of MCO? I know there are a million commuters out of MCO..would ORD possibly be best since it's a dual-hub? Looks like ORD and DTW have the most direct flights (after DFW which actually looks like it'll take as long as ATL to hold).

Edit: Forgot about IAH, which also has 8 flights a day and is obviously a shorter flight time (United/Spirit)

Thanks again

I commute from RSW to ORD. Really nice this time of the year with a lot of frequency. I tried RSW to ATL and I would not wish that hell on anyone.

Thanks for the info. Too bad that's 3.5hr from me. So, correct me if I am wrong:

-MLB to ATL is simply the best option..once I can hold ATL
-Until then probably MCO to...ORD or DTW?

Thanks again! I'm new to 121 and am also new to that geographic area.

So far this month I've been on reserve for 7 days and I haven't been used once as a CRJ CA. I picked up 2 standups out of boredom.
I'm coming back to ORD at 92% after training. Do you know how long the expected time is on reserve for you guys (ORD CA)?

Currently enjoying the trips I’m getting on reserve. Though I’m sure once I get my 100 PIC I will be back to one or two locals a month and most of my time on reserve spent watching TV at the crash pad.

All the power to you guys who do this but reading that made me throw up a little.

Make no mistake, it’s a special layer of hell commuting to reserve only to spend your entire week sitting around going stir crazy waiting for the phone to ring and feeling absurdly lucky to get one lonely BJI or DLH turn. My only salvation for now is the holidays and winter weather, but I’ll be ready to shove an ice pick in my eyes come February if it’s a mild winter and I’m still sitting around doing less than nothing.
