Skywest Questions

See that's the thing, there is no solution, and ALPA has written off Skywest. In the grand scheme of things, the airline is so small.
Not entirely correct. More pilots than Alaska/JetBlue/Spirit and several others. Pilot group wise it’s just below several majors, I forget what the exact figure is for where it would stand as far as pilots represented, but it’s nothing to sneeze at.

Also sorry guys, but I’m not sure exactly what’s trying to be accomplished here by preaching to the choir when every person in here has voiced support for unionizing. We can sit here and dish out this “sins of the father stuff” all day but it does nothing productive to denigrate people that would like to see change.

While you're right, it's nothing to sneeze at, it's about income vs time wasted for alpa.

The average jetblue pilot makes.... at least 2.5-3x the average skywest guy.

I think that coupled with getting shut down so many times makes alpa realize that maybe it isn't worth the effort.

the key to success is to remove the EB from sapa. period. or organize. Either path will bring change.

He did the same thing that I did before I left. He used the tools available to him (joining SAPA) and tried to change it from a position of "power".

SAPA is a gigantic JOKE and @Autothrust Blue was met with the same 'loving embrace' that I was met with, which was blatantly told and I quote: "If you are an ALPA supporter, I don't care that you are part of SAPA, you will never be inside this room when it's a closed door meeting"

I left for many reasons. and one of them is that I am a giant union supporter, and that place is screwed until RJ and AA get the boot.

JB on his FIRST meeting after being elected VP literally said (within the first 10 minutes) and I paraphrase: You know, VP is a hard job. I really think we need to increase the pay to 130 hours (He was getting paid 104 hours to be VP)

Kid you not. FIRST MEETING.
I remember hearing about this, and thought to myself, were these guys elected as pilots to represent pilots, or hired into management positions? Because if I'm just a pilot, elected to represent pilots, I am officially now being threatened for my affiliation with a group attempting to organize.

The idea a SAPA rep would be forced to disassociate with the ALPA OC is ridiculous, they're just pilots, right?

Or, I am now in management-which of course has it's own ramifications worth revisiting legally. The decision handed to ALPA regarding SAPA was a sham.

Dude, not even close to accurate. You need to stop listening to whatever Skywest yahoos are feeding you this erroneous info.

"Who taught you this? Where did you learn this???"

"From you alright, I learned it from watching you!"

I've heard it mentioned here actually numerous times in fact, right or wrong. Not from Skywest koolaid that ALPA isn't a real union perse, but more of an association.

Not really.

As I understand it, XJT ALPA was deemed to not have standing.

OF COURSE THEY DIDN’T HAVE STANDING.

SkyWest Pilots are the aggrieved party, not XJT Pilots, on that matter.

How are things over on the CRJ side nowadays? I made the move over to the ERJ about a year ago anticipating that I would get the upgrade...looks like a 4 year upgrade as of now with the way that things are gearing downwards. It was a dumb decision on my part in hindsight. So ...I'll be upgrading on the CRJ soon.

Welcome back, no changes. But in reality, it’s the same suck when you are junior and less so when you are senior. Where will you be based? That will play a large factor in how your trips will be.

Thanks, looking forward to the TPIC opportunity, and perhaps the possibility of escaping the regionals that comes along with it. I'll be DTW bound most likely, so I may hopefully fly with some of you.
