What some of you guys don't realize, and I don't think are capable of realizing, is that the management at Skywest has sunk thosuands of careers are two ALPA airlines by dismantling XJT and ASA. ASA doesn't even exist anymore, and Skywest is doing the flying.
Skywest pilots have directly benefited from the demise of a pair of ALPA airlines, even if you had nothing to do with the negotiation of the transactions that caused this; to ASA and XJT pilots, y'all are flying around boosted CRJ's saying, "I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!"

So I don't really understand what the solution is? Pretty much as I read it is that everyone from the outside looking in on the internet hates our group of pilots and despite the fact that we have said a majority of us have never had the option to even vote ALPA, we are being pushed into the corner?
All I've heard is you have no backbone for not having ALPA and are a disgrace to the industry. Yet when we say ALPA has a cautious approach to even allowing a vote to happen, we hear "can you blame them?!" followed by us taking the blame. It's comical. Essentially what I hear is that I'm wrong for working here in the first place. Lol.

See that's the thing, there is no solution, and ALPA has written off Skywest. In the grand scheme of things, the airline is so small that ignoring the issue is likely the easiest solution.
I'm just reminding you guys WHY some folks are so angry, because we had our careers temporarily dismantled by Chip, and y'all were the beneficiaries of that dismantling.
It's the personal bias of thousands of pilots who never upgraded, were furloughed, and had their basses close only to watch Skywest roll in.
I remember when the acquisition first happened, Skywest said they were going to leave XJT/ASA alone because they were the east coast airline and it didn't make sense for skywest to come east.
That didn't last long.
The truth is I'd rather see you two get the hell out of Skywest and on to a real job. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help that.

Although I must agree with the barrister; the ongoing failure of your coworkers to Do The Right Thing for themselves is an ongoing sore point, and it’s mostly just best to say “seeya” to the place. I should have done it way sooner than I did.

We need to bring ALPA. Period. I am happy to see that this discussion is happening at all. And I’m glad to see so many OAL pilots voicing their displeasure. Hold our feet to the fire, so to speak.

What about you though? What did you do during your time here to aid the cause? You say you went to Spirit; to me that seems as if you ran away from the problem instead of sticking around to mend our faults. It sounds like you might have contributed in some way in the past, or are you just being a hypocrite and blowing smoke up our rears? If you did, why not share what you have done in the past so that some of us could gain some insight ourselves and possibly bring about some good? I don’t know you in person, so it wouldn’t be fair for me to judge through an Internet forum. However, I am genuinely interested in how we could improve our plight, because like it or not, many of us will be stuck here through no wrong-doing of our own.

He did the same thing that I did before I left. He used the tools available to him (joining SAPA) and tried to change it from a position of "power".
SAPA is a gigantic JOKE and @Autothrust Blue was met with the same 'loving embrace' that I was met with, which was blatantly told and I quote: "If you are an ALPA supporter, I don't care that you are part of SAPA, you will never be inside this room when it's a closed door meeting"
I left for many reasons. and one of them is that I am a giant union supporter, and that place is screwed until RJ and AA get the boot.
JB on his FIRST meeting after being elected VP literally said (within the first 10 minutes) and I paraphrase: You know, VP is a hard job. I really think we need to increase the pay to 130 hours (He was getting paid 104 hours to be VP)

They were marginally nicer to me than to you, and I managed to marginally deter a few utter train wrecks while I was in that chair, but I declined to seek re-election for both personal and professional (read: Russ) reasons.
I don’t really see how going to an infinitely better shop is running away from your problems. I am doing everything I can to improve this place while I’m here, but make no mistake, I will jump ship at the first offer I receive.

And more power to you. You need to have you and your family #1. THEN while you are looking for a better job, improve the place you're at. Anyone who believes skywest is a career airline is hilariously uninformed. That doesn't mean you pull the carpet from beneath everyone and make it a horrendous place, it means you put your time and effort while you can but leave ASAP.

Him and I were on good terms. He didn't see me as a threat because I am very diplomatic to an extent. AA and a few others on the other hand... I fought pretty hard alongside one other guy there to make sure the guys getting elected (pro alpa, which I will call from here on out, pro pilot) weren't going to be left out.
On a candidates congratulatory phone call of "welcome to SAPA, congratulations" he was essentially told, quit the ALPA crap or you will not make it into our meetings.
Unreal.

I’m pretty sure you just can’t do that actually.
“Move on” is the same advice given by the Kool-Aid chuggers when people have valid complaints. Yeah, it’s a good strategy, but you know as well as I do that for some people the phone never rings. There’s a good number of people that risk this being “it” if things go sideways in this industry.

previously said VP on his first day on the job also had half the room convinced that they could disqualify 2 candidates running (and winning by a large margin) because the fact that they're pro-alpa means they're anti-sapa. Despite the bylaws giving him or SAPA 0 power to remove a candidate.
It's not at all a hyperbole when I say that 3 of us had to verbally fight the room and explain what an absolute joke of an idea that was.
then the 2 candidates won, and one of them got previously mentioned call.

too true. ANytime you bring up a way to make things better or say something akin to "well the industry standard is this" or "most every airline has this" you get met with "well why don't you go on and get a job there then!"
Which is super frustrating. Make the place better, or just leave it and not care like everyone else (which is why it is the way it is)
