Yeah I know about the scope. I was just curious why they would even buy a 100 + seat RJ in the first place if there are 76 seaters already available.

Im confused. Why would any US regional buy a 100 pax seat RJ to configure it with less seats? Is it for range?

The "rumint" indicates 900s, max 90 seat jets with 70 seats, which is six less than the 900s we have operating now, in order to skirt the scope agreements on large RJs. This because Bombardier is supposedly willing to fire sale them, and rumors aside the 900 is actually a good performer per seat mile, better than the ERJ.

I don't think any airline has specs written for the 1000 in the US anyway, and the FAA doesn't even have it as a type option to my knowledge. Regardless the 1000 as you said, makes no sense and wasn't in the rumor mill this time.
