Except by the time the seat lock is up I'd be able to upgrade on the 175.Nothing is stopping you. :stir:
Probably another 6 months before I have the hours either way.

I did this exactly, and went from bidding 70% on the CRJ to 45% on the ERJ.Yeah, to each his own, but I really can't fathom any reason to do this. Your seniority is undoubtedly better on the CRJ. It's just a lateral move to a more senior airplane so you can sit in the same seat but with a way worse schedule. It's a great airplane.... But I wish I had gone to the other one and upgraded by now.

An MSP CRJ FO was in training for the ERJ, and got the upgrade awarded on the CRJ during transition class. How did he pull it off?
You guys will probably hate me for this, but I'm a 1.5 year CRJ FO in ORD and possibly will transition over to the ERJ soon.
I hope I get a line if I do...I've been waiting patiently.
You guys transitioning to the 175, how long are you expecting to upgrade on it? After it's all said and done.

You're in MSP right? I tried to figure that base out......The base I'm in, never is a good guess. The same could probably be said for the CRJ here as well.
It's right at 3 years right now for ORD, seems like it's dropped as well. But those guys are probably going to be on reserve for the rest of their time at SkyWest.

Conclusion: I gave up.
Oh, gotcha. Thought you were in MSP! Yeah I just decided to move where I wanted to live and just see how it all works out. Hopefully SLC doesn't go ERJ because I'd be screwed. No, I'm in Denver. There's movement in MSP, and it isn't populated with a very large population of lifers that intend to stick around. I've considered moving there, I like the city. Detroit on the other hand.. I hear Ann Arbor is nice though.
I will say, I've stopped trying to figure out the staffing at bases because I simply can't comprehend it with my pilot brain. All I know is Denevr is shrinking and I figure it will continue to shrink and Detroit is expanding rapidly.

I'm ORD. You've never flown with me. And I do CMX twice this week! All bark, no bite...
(And @JustinS will be a beat up, demoralized, zombie after he posts bail from DTW).
Maybe for ORD. PDX trips are so bland that seniority basically dictates how many nights a week you end up in SJC and if you have to wake up early for it or not.On the CRJ side once you get to this little sweet spot as an FO where people junior to you start upgrading(ignoring the 10th month guy closer to 1.5 years), your schedule doesn't really get better. You've essentially plateau'd. However, if I took this same seniority to the 175 I'd be holding those 26 hour 4 days. Your QOL may be slightly worse than your peers on the CRJ mnow but your QOL will get insanely better than our side at the top 25%.
That bad, eh? I spend a lot of my time in BFL and it drives me mad.Maybe for ORD. PDX trips are so bland that seniority basically dictates how many nights a week you end up in SJC and if you have to wake up early for it or not.
