Skywest Questions

What online logbook are you guys using and does it have the function to automatically import your schedule?

I own a PC with an iPhone. I would prefer to edit my flights on my computer and not my iPhone but Log10 looks so amazing. Is Logbook Pro the way to go? I'd have to pay $70 and then $60 for schedule importer if I want it? Can you use their phone app without buying that subscription also...to see your hours or account or anything or do I have to buy the $40 subscription as well...

I currently use ZuluLog so I'd need to import my hours over but I'm having trouble logging Level-D sims on this logbook software and $110/yr for no schedule importer seems foolish.

I know it's heretical, but the jackets are great, however the pants are over rated. They don't last much longer and are $$$$$$$$.
Versus what? I've not found anything else that stands up as well to my daily wear and tear.
This part of the state Helly Hansen is more of the outerwear of choice most of the time.

I've had good luck with stuff from REI. What, no Xtratuffs?
Can't stand extratufs. No arch support, no grip on ice/snow, and worst of all no breathing. My feet stew in them. I wear Oboz hiking shoes year round. They are great. Tried a pair of Patagonias and destroyed them in no time.

Negative, son. Carhartt is a Michigan based company and should be the mandatory uniform for all DTW based pilots, eh @Derg

Only if you change your entire wardrobe to that ridiculous "Duluth Trading" AND get the stupid mustache too.

People ain't chopping wood in that shizzle.

Just one pilots opinion.

I use APDL (a smartphone app) from the company that wrote Logbook Pro for $120/year... it is a subscription - yes it is pricey. I renew it only when they're running sales (like right now for 20% off)

But my workflow:
(1) import my schedule to the APDL app (schedule import ability included with the app subscription) through one of two methods:
(A) either cut and paste from flica to the APDL app on the iPhone or
(B) cut and paste from flica to apdl.net on my MacBook (on the road) or desktop Windows PC (at home) and then sync the app on my phone thru the cloud.
(2) Fly my flight- then finger in my oooi times in the apdl app on my phone. If I forget to put in my times, the APDL app automatically pulls the tail number, aircraft type and off and in times from open source Intel / flight trackers etc. it just doesn't know whether to credit me as PF or PNF to log landings etc.
(3) after I finish my trip, Export the flight times, landings, legs, tail number etc from apdl.net to logbook pro. (It exports to a csv file so you can import it to any logbook program that accepts csv imports or even Microsoft excel)

So I don't have a logbook app on my phone per se. My logbook is still logbook pro on my windows pic at home that I just paid $70 for 12 years ago and haven't spent any more money for.
The APDL app is just a 117 calculator that tracks your fdps, duty time, and rest periods - its flagged delays for me before my own airline was aware of delays - you can use your existing logbook program with as long as it can accept .csv files.

Once you import your schedule into APDL, you don't have to do anything else, you don't even have to enter your times if you're that lazy. After the scheduled time for the flight has passed, it will pull the flight data, tail number, calculate night time and log it for you. The only thing you have to do is import the APDL data into your logbook program and manually enter your landings and instrument stuff if you don't log them in the app.

If you go with logbook pro I wouldn't bother with their schedule importer subscription or their cloud sync subscription or anything like that.
If you go with APDL I'd keep logging your time with your existing logbook program - logten pro or whatever you're currently using.

That's fine...
No arch support,
That's true, but I personally grew up barefoot ... sometimes wearing moccasins. So I prefer it like that.
no grip on ice/snow,

WAT.

You, sir, are on crack! I haven't ever found anything as good on ice and snow, other than yak tracks. Yak traks on tuffs = Subaru feet.

and worst of all no breathing.

True, but this never bothered me. It's not NO breathing.. it's just very limited.

I LOVE my tuffs, though.

To each their own. It could be 10*F and I would have swamp foot after 5 minutes of walking.
