Skywest Questions

If one gets called for IOE before their leather jacket is mailed to them, what is the option? Just freeze because I don't want to look like a tool?? They said the jacket takes 5-7 weeks, I think it's time to start making calls as it a week or two past that. Maybe they are using Prime to send it my way or something...

5-7 weeks? You must be lucky. I ordered mine Sept. 7th, still haven't received it, despite weekly phone calls and emails to Perrone. At this point I'm convinced they are still waiting for the calf to be born which shall one day give of itself so that I may be warm (and at which point I will have gotten my PHX transfer and won't need it). Oh and I have two Calgary overnights on my next trip starting in two days.

Yes! That's in the policy manual right? In all seriousness I do have a Black Kirkland coat with zero labels that I plan on wearing. If asked by the check airman, I will say that I'm waiting on my uniform that Skywest requires. I really don't want to go without a coat this time of year..

I don't want to be that guy, but unfortunately that's just not how airline training works. At the very end of class I just seated home on a 45 minute flight to surprise my mom for her birthday. Was there for a day, turned around and headed back. Make sure you discuss with the wife that you will be gone for a while, and unless you live in a junior base, gone more as you commute to reserve. Again, don't want to spoil the excitement but airline training is rough on a family. Feel free to ask more questions
That's how it's always worked for me.
This isn't a the first carrier I will have worked at, so I'm familiar what the lifestyle is like. What I need to know is the peculiarities of OO.

Can you j/s on United with paper forms and an employee #?

Thermal or silk underwear? That is if you can afford it....

I'm rockin' my new trenchcoat (lady's version) for Christmas, knowing how cold Dallas can be this time of year.

No, I didn't bother to check the weather.

Oops.

But goddammit, I LOOK Wermacht as fuchs...

Just wear what you have and let your check airman know the reason. They know it takes awhile to get all your stuff.

I was awarded ORD and will still be in new hire training for a couple of weeks. My ultimate goal is Phx but i'm trying to limit or eliminate sitting reserve if I can. Would bidding MSP or DTW get me a line faster than in ORD? CRJ side.
