So about to finish training come January and I get an email that says I should send my IOE requests in. What sort of thing would you have requested before your IOE, looking back? Or from what you've seen/heard.

I'll be based out of LAX, commuting out of RNO.

Leave lots of chances out of RNO, there are a ton of people who commute from there.

I requested to do mine out of SFO, I got one trip there and one out of Denver

While you can request to do IOE from any domicile, it's a good idea to get at least one trip in from your actual domicile to familiarize yourself. Granted, LAX is pretty straight forward.

A uniform isn't fashion. A uniform is a uniform.
It's a bit weird being one of maybe 6 people in your base on Team Hat/trenchcoat
I must have missed the day of indoc where they handed out the North Face fuzzy jackets

I'm looking at a class next year, but I need to commute home on the weekends to water the dog, see the plants, hang-out with the landlord, and pay the wife.

Recruiter says United travel and CASS is available after two weeks, but I've heard non-rev on United is tough, and IDs are issued until late in training (so no jumpseating?). Any advice, guys?

Speaking of which, Christmas came early! I got my double-breasted trenchcoat (women's size 12) in the mail today.

Helps when it ships from South San Jose. If only I'd known, I suppose I could have just driven down there to pick it up!

Will send pictures when I have some. ^.^ Question for Team Trenchcoat—We're allowed to wear epaulettes on the trenchcoat in lieu of hat. Given that, do we use the (wide) shirt epaulettes, or the (narrow) jacket epaulettes?

We are the multiform. ;9

I put the jacket epaulettes on my sweater, but my jacket epaulettes are different from everyone else's for some reason, they're like the shirt ones.

I don't want to be that guy, but unfortunately that's just not how airline training works. At the very end of class I just seated home on a 45 minute flight to surprise my mom for her birthday. Was there for a day, turned around and headed back. Make sure you discuss with the wife that you will be gone for a while, and unless you live in a junior base, gone more as you commute to reserve. Again, don't want to spoil the excitement but airline training is rough on a family. Feel free to ask more questions

Do it where you want to fly out of.

ORD flying is better. Especially with the recent uptake of American -700 flying.

Yes. We now do the 2 turns ORD-MKE before going to FNT for the night. Don't forget your water bottle for the overnight.

We still have some good UA-700 flying. I'm 3/4 trips in Jan J9D. I do have to spend a few nights in EWR. 8(

Northface. Man. That's the sign of a true adventure-seeking outdoorsman! Herkaleeez, herkaleeez!

Sorry. If I'm being an ass it's because I'm a little cranky today.

If one gets called for IOE before their leather jacket is mailed to them, what is the option? Just freeze because I don't want to look like a tool?? They said the jacket takes 5-7 weeks, I think it's time to start making calls as it a week or two past that. Maybe they are using Prime to send it my way or something...
