Skywest Questions

Still not sure what it even means.

I was saying in light of the fact that another carrier's pilot are supposedly losing their SIDA badges in DTW, that adding another based carrier could simply get it to the point where the airport authority says no more pilot badges for anyone. Which would hurt the guys who actually live in DTW by adding significantly to the amount of time to get from parking to work. That's all it was about.

As I said in the PM with you, TSA makes these threats from time to time. I've heard it at every airport I've been based at... Just do what you're supposed to, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

It isn't a TSA threat, it's an airport authority threat, and it's not a regional carrier, it's a certain mainline carrier. But whatever, I'm out.

Well @surreal1221 I lied....new rumor for DTW is "2-3 weeks" now. Well see....lol

Yup. As expected.

Enjoy it guys. Not a lot of room in our lounge but it's pretty cozy and staff has smiling faces. No vending machines though - those got yanked a long time ago. The kiosk in our lounge for travel also is very temperamental so you'll be better off using the one's in the concourses. Also, Fudruckers has a decent employee discount thing - if you park on C regularly.

Welcome...

Well like I said. That's the new "rumor"... We'll see...

Conversely, those of us that live in Detroit that currently have to commute would save a significant amount of time by being able to drive to work....

And SkyWest catches crap for it? Confused.

It's typical bureaucratic grandstanding where some mid level supervisor gets the ear of the airport because " there are RULES!"

And I can ENFORCE THEM!

When I was in Denver it seemed like there were threats made a lot about SIDA, seems a lot having to do with airline people not wearing their uniform when using the parking lot. Seemed excessively stupid since everyone had their SIDA badge, airline ID and passport or DL, however I guess the airport was made more secure by forcing everyone to wear something easily ordered from Marv Golden.....

Anyway I was a commuter so it didn't really affect me. Lots of fear peddling from the airport but regardless the rules were pretty clear and easy to follow. Keep in mind SIDA issuance at most of these airports is operationally necessary so like @GypsyPilot said, don't be the problem and you won't have a problem.

So...no idea when you guys are opening Detroit? Gotta be soon right? Anyone? Would be great to meet some of our West coast brothers and sisters. We have lounge space and I'm sure we will share. The merging of East Coast and West Coast. Let's make it happen. At least in Detroit.

This isn't even a rumor. There is no talk of opening a Detroit base.

Are you still commuting ATL-DTW?
