Skywest Questions

Also do they do the awards at the beginning of every month for the following month or how does it work?
The vacancy report is usually published around the 26th-end of month with the awards published around the 5-6th of every month. The awards are for the following month. i.e. the report that comes out at the end of June will be for August transfers.

If you're worried about the double dipping jumpseat issue then the only real workable solution is to make it first-come first-serve for all non-company pilots.

I'm still learning the ropes off all of this but does anyone know how long it's taking to be awarded COS? I'm trying to plan a move and it seems nearly impossible since odds are I'll be placed in MSP when I'm done with sims. And they won't let you schedule the moving days less than a month and a half out. I'm trying to get the COS award schedule with moving days since it would be a nightmare to commute from there.

Any tips for a new guy who hasn't had to work the logistics of this out before?

As someone who gets to figure out how to get his car from SLC to MSP while flying the box in CVG simultaneously, grin, bear it, and go with the flow.

That wasn't very helpful.

As others have said, the most junior FO in COS is a 03/29/2016 hire date. With the way things are moving, I can't imagine you'll have to wait very long to get it awarded. Once you get the base award of COS you will get a SWOL message that looks something like this:

Hello!

I am emailing regarding move days. I have currently added 4 unpaid move days to your schedule. These 96 hours free from duty are meant for you to have time to be in place in your awarded domicile.

If you need these days elsewhere or would like to cancel these days, please coordinate with me ASAP so we can make any necessary adjustments.

There will be a number to contact in the message if you need the move days adjusted. My advice to you would be to focus on getting through sims. Odds are you will be in MSP for a couple months. The awards usually come out within the first couple days of each new month. The actual base transfer becomes effective a month after (Allowing time to schedule move days, bid, ect.) For example, if you were awarded COS July 1st, the first day you'd be based in COS would be Aug 1st.

That was all I was looking for, no one has explained how anything actually works out. Which would be fine if it were just me, but others are trying to plan with me. Thank you!

Lines fell pretty far down this month on the 175. Looks like it made it down to 128ish. It was targeted at 120, so looks like a few more people get to fly this month

Yeah, my opinion on that is not printable.

I have something witty to say about getting a mainline job here, but I don't think it would be appreciated.

I don't know. Segregate the bases by what they actually fly? Get rid of SFO-based CR* DCI flying and consider them all UAX-dedicated? Alaska and American are mostly that way. I don't have a good answer for this. It certainly won't please everyone.

The only unambiguous case is a SKW pilot on a SKW airplane, and someone else trying to get on ahead of him (and as I understand it, we don't enjoy priority on Eagle flights on our own metal, but it's been a LONG while since I looked at this). This is not my bailiwick.
Do you feel slighted because the 175 guys dont get delta benefits?

I was not.

The fact that it is still not a firmly resolved issue irks me; there should be no issue.
As I do agree with you on said issue, I and many other peeps knew that there were issues like this.

I have other opinions about the new hires complaining about not flying. Or the semi senior FOs who made the jump and have garbage schedules even though they are 30 percent in their seat and base.

As much as it sucks to be plagued by these issues, I'm holding out hope that they get fixed.

In hindsight, I should have stayed on the Brasilia till her demise, taken the MERS to MSP CRJ/FO...but that's in hindsight.
