Ain't nobody got time for that
So no #yolo here?"Release fuel is 1700? 2000, please."

Meh. Most Captains don't do the YOLO thing. (To me, trying to "beat" the fuel is like trying to "beat" the low altitude record - it turns out you can only tie it, and the results are unfavorable.) We don't have fuel scores here like we did at Eagle either. It seemed like a ridiculous and even unsafe idea there. So no #yolo here?
1700?!? That's almost emergency fuel!!"Release fuel is 1700? 2000, please."
Makes sense. I was totes jokingMeh. Most Captains don't do the YOLO thing. By definition, MTOW - MZFW = fuel that you can take "for free" - that is, any weight over MZFW must be in the form of fuel out in the wings and you will NOT compromise payload for it. So, even for flight plan limited legs, 2000ish lbs is a good fuel number when they say anything less than 2,000. Usually the only time that we're less is out of Carlsbad, to LAX, on a clear sky day, through-fueled to have around 1,700lb for the way back. The airplane burns 1000-1200lb/hour (more down low going fast). MTOW in Carlsbad (always) and occasionally in San Diego is constrained by runway performance (25,500lb MTOW in CLD isn't uncommon), but nonetheless, the most limiting MTOW - MZFW = fuel you can take "for free."
This morning, the most limiting MTOW from San Diego to LAX was 26,290lb. 26,290 - 24,030 = 2,260lb (and so on).
(so why go with less? finessing the fuel on short-haul is something of a pointless exercise, and if anything goes pear-shaped, you're going to be in a minimum fuel situation in a hurry with some of the quoted figures.)
No sweat. It's a bit of a soapbox topic. I didn't fully grasp ZFW until I was regularly applying it, and then it was an "ah ha" moment - so it's reproduced here in hopes others will find it useful.Makes sense. I was totes joking
In the middle of nowhere, it is.1700?!? That's almost emergency fuel!!![]()
that's cool as f

Not sure if you've got the class or company, but none of those..?Now you've gone and done it.
Are you CL, RJ, VC, JW, AV, or SB?

I'm excited. In Sim right now. Blast to flyMust've been looking at the wrong class. Whatevs. Welcome to the bro, you'll love it, it's a super fun plane to fly. Especially out the in CA system.

Don't freak your cookies, there are four ways to feather, land the freakin' plane, etc.The BRO definitely exposes weaknesses. Fun to fly though for sure!
