It's great, but there are like 5 or so planes (YV planes I believe) that it doesn't work in. You can make an extension so it will work in those though.that's cool as f

I'll keep that in mind. Baby stepsIt's great, but there are like 5 or so planes (YV planes I believe) that it doesn't work in. You can make an extension so it will work in those though.
As long as the company provides said EFB, I couldn't care less if it was a 1st generation Kindle. In fact, I'd prefer it. Closest thing to paper. Will almost never run out of battery (if you charge it once every paycheck) and has 0 glare problems. If you have an ipad, the company will provide a Jepp Pro subscription for you as well. You still have to carry the paper plates and technically use them. However, if one were to use the ipad simply for "reference" in "cruise flight" I've heard that most captains don't mind at all.
Then again, schoolhouse rumor at the moment says Microsoft Surface tablets look to be the EFB of choice whenever the company finally pulls the trigger. Lowest bidder gets the contract!
I was using a small 3 ring binder, but my charts were ripping left and right because of the lack of rings. I went back to Jeppesen binders already. You can get a 1 inch binder from OfficeMax that will work.
I'll see how things work on the line. I'll try my best to keep them nice and neat and if they start ripping I'll at least get the 1inch jepp. no point in the 2 inch since I don't plan on using it much except revisionsI was using a small 3 ring binder, but my charts were ripping left and right because of the lack of rings. Oh I certainly plan a 2 inch and a 1 inch. 1 inch for places I actually go, 2 inch for everything else. It's probably better to split it up. The bro plates barely fit in a 2 inch. Revisions are a pain when you are trying to prevent the paper from exploding out of the rings every time you open them.
is the quality of the ASA good? I don't remember the SKW prices of the binders but I want to say the jepp plastic was the same price as the ASA one which is also plastic... why not go jepp at that point?ASA makes some 7-rings that are a little less expensive than the Jepps. I like using a 2-inch for all my plates, then I stick all my enroutes into a chart wallet. Seems a little slimmer in my bag, plus you only buy one binder.
I've got some kind of generic one. I think it was a spare I picked up at Trans States, so I'm sure it's whatever the lowest priced binder is. Either way, I was just commenting on what I've found to work and that you may be able to get away with just one binder and a chart wallet. Currently, I'm not even using the chart wallet, I just tucked my enroutes, still in their protective sleeve things, into a side pocket in my flight bag.is the quality of the ASA good? ah roger. I'll see if I can get away with just a 2inchI've got some kind of generic one. I think it was a spare I picked up at Trans States, so I'm sure it's whatever the lowest priced binder is. That's what she said.ah roger. I'll see if I can get away with just a 2inch
True that, although I wouldn't be surprised if that announcement is made "Applicability: All fleets EXCEPT EM2" - just like Airside was.As long as the company provides said EFB, I couldn't care less if it was a 1st generation Kindle. That said, if they gave us all surface tabs, I'd still be happy.
I guess as long as technology is involved and replacing paper, you can't make me unhappy about it.
like RNAV SID/STAR, airside kits (True that, although I wouldn't be surprised if that announcement is made "Applicability: All fleets EXCEPT EM2" - just like Airside was.
I cram the places that I go into a trip binder and everywhere else lives in a thicker, diversion binder, but I'm a lineholder that more or less goes to the same 10 airports.
I've been bitten by "say your minimum RVR capability" twice, maybe three times, in two years. Considering the number of segments that we do I think that's pretty good. (If you wish you had CAT II at your hub, your day is probably going to be screwed anyway due to EDCT programs - especially YOU, San Fran.)like RNAV SID/STAR, airside kits () and CATII
no love for the props.
that's ok, keep it positive, all those RJs WISH they could fly around one of the most gorgeous states in the nation
I was running the numbers on a few short leg releases the other day and I found that the Brasilia can do some flights at under 50lbs of fuel per passenger while the 200 is above 75lbs per passenger on most legs under 90 minutes.I've been bitten by "say your minimum RVR capability" twice, maybe three times, in two years. I joked about it but I'm pretty sure once the last -200 goes back to the lessor/to the boneyard the crew's going to ride home on a -120; the airplane is consistently profitable and as long as we can keep fixing it I'm sure the extremely profitable niche markets that it operates will continue to be flown on the Bro. It's pure profit, and the only replacement for a Brasilia is another Brasilia. Or a DC-3, but I doubt we're going to run out and buy a bunch of those.

Of course there is a lot more to it than that as far as company costs, I was just shocked at how much less fuel it burns per seat....
Then again that's an overly simplistic view from an outsider barely making his way in.
