SkyWest DX Opening - Feb 2018

Oh. Pfff I read that on autopilot. I thought it said Southwest, which means anyone who applies after 20 min of it opening is doomed.

FWIW I'm to understand we've knocked that off. Openings are time-based now as opposed to the old "X number of apps and close" deal. That being said, that time window is usually pretty short. Think 24 to 48 hours, but at least you don't have drop everything and scramble to the nearest computer to fill out the app.

Now, I don't cruise the SWA openings site anymore, so I haven't seen this in action. YMMV

How are you supposed to know exactly when the opening is posted?

I usually got a heads up from my connections there when they would possibly be posting and then I would refresh their openings page repeatedly. It worked pretty well. I was invited to test a number of times with them.

Yep. Word of mouth seems to be the way to go.

So what you're saying is... It's all about the connections!

Well, and paying attention. When Southwest posts an opening it's usually not a well kept secret. This board is a good source, but if you're really looking it's best to check the openings page of whatever airlines you're interested in applying to at least once a day. I just set up a list of short cuts in my phone browser and would run through them. Took only a few minutes to accomplish.

Like all things that are worth getting, you have to work for them.

I don't like the way I looked or sounded on the video. I wasn't articulate at all. I wouldn't hire me if I were looking at the video. Maybe everyone feels the same way. All I know is that I could have done better-MUCH better.

I'm not going to lie....I feel the same way with my interview. I'm not really a fan of these one way interviews as I speak better once someone in front of me at least acknowledging everything that I'm saying. I feel like the timer also throws me off a bit as I feel most of my answers were extremely short as I'm not one to fill in the gaps with a bunch of BS I just like to get my answer across.
