They pay very fair for the equipment compared to many ALPA positions and the are now unionized (GoJet). I love the word scab being thrown around everywhere in this industry. A wise man once told me if you treat your employees right there is no need to unionize. Obviously, no one in airline management understands this so I guess they are a necessary evil if there is abuse at your place of employment. I really don't buy into this whole thing, join a Union for pilots by pilots mumbo jumbo. If you really look into it, the Union is just there to make sure you make fair wages, get treated with the respect you need from your employeer, and cover your back. Hire a couple aviation attorneys for the union and they are as spanking fantastic as ALPA. I am sure I will be on a couple peoples ignore list because of the this post but you know what I really don't care. As for burning bridges...if some are willing to go out of their way to try an sabotage someone's career due to one's beliefs because they think they are a higher tier of pilot due to the union they work for, fine. Just take a real close look at yourself in the mirror. Pilot's are suppose to be a close knit community and over the past couple months on this site I have seen very little of that. When times get bad everyone points the finger. If your furloughed I am sorry but deal with it...I have upmost respect for you and whoever you may be supporting but there is other options that may include a "scab" company. If you got to put food on the table figure out a way of doing it beside blaming GoJets if you are a TSA pilot instead of being bitter and looking for ways to get back at these "scab" pilots.
I am by far without blame in some of these subjects. I have been unemployed for 5 months and yes I am probally going to have to grab a job outside of aviation until the market turns around. It sucks but I am just going to have to deal with it. It would be so nice to be able to afford 100 hours of multi and a CRJ course and then hop on to Eagle at some point this year but it is finicially not possible (probally a waste of money also). Should these people be denied jumpseats because they are "stealing jobs" in the industry over more qualified candiates? Should GS'ers be denied jumpseats because they are also stealing seats over more qualified canidiates? Though I don't agree with either I do not think anyone should be denied jumpseats or blackballed from the community, interviews, etc.
Finally those with the power to deny jumpseaters really take a good look at yourself and other collegues before you deny a jumpseat. Stop stroking ego's and pushing agendas through the use of a jumpseat. I don't care if you are the most hardcore ALPA nazi and a GoJets jumpseater is trying to get home on a heavy bird. If there is a way to get him/her on the plane even with more work on your end you should do so. Everyone talks about burning bridges in this industry and it is a double standard. It is ok to burn bridges with GoJet or Mesa or Jetblue pilots or any scab pilot but not the other way around. What happens when that GoJet pilot is a AA recruiter 20 years down the road and you were the ALPA whatever for your airline?
I am sure I will get the your just a 300 hour 20 year old pilot what do you know. Well to be honest I don't know everything about the industry in fact a probally know just enough to get by. However I am intelligent enough to make conclusions based on knowledge off of other people and other sources of information. Any intelligent human being can do this. Does it make them an expert absolutely not but really who is in this industry?
In conclusion, grow up people. Agenda's should not be pushed through the use of a jumpseat. Pilots are Pilots are Pilots and instead of making others lifes living hell wake up and work together with another aviator.
End Rant - 3am spelling?why is the sp checker not working?
Fly safe,
jhugz
but I'm smart enough to listen to some of these guys instead of constantly arguing with them.
I have heard the GOjets story from a guy that was with TSA when GOjets was formed. What that company did to its pilots was disgraceful.
YGTBKMThat's good, you're the thinking type
You're right it is what the company did not the pilots. The bottom line is you do the work your employer gives you. If you're at TSA then fly whatever routes you fly and don't worry about GOjet. It is not anyones problem. Your employer started a buisnes and they will run it however they want don't get involved jobs were not taken at all especially when there is pref hiring at gojet for TSA furloughees.
Jhugz you're right. The real pilots that suffer form SJS are the ones that are mad they can't fly a CRJ700
Ignore list breaker![]()

Yeah...lets stick it to people trying to get home to their families after a 6 day trip, that will teach em a lesson.![]()
but there are several layers you have to look at.... scabs, non-union airline pilots (especially with a worse pay rate for your equipment), etc...
I'm all about it! You see, I've actually got a wife, rent, and all that other kind of stuff to pay for, so I'm ALL about screwing people that have screwed me. They don't see their families, then tough nuts!
It's one thing to be ignorant of a place and make a bad decision with your career. It is altogether a whole different thing to knowingly go work for the place after several people warn you of the consequences. You go to work for a scab outfit, do not play the poor me card when you can't see your family because you are the one that put yourself and your family in the situation.
Seriously, a pilot that goes to work for a place that drops the bar to the depths of hell for everyone else in the industry and makes it harder for me to put food on the table is not going to make me feel sorry for him when he gets denied a jumpseat, even on Christmas.
You make your bed, you better be prepared to lie in it. Playing the emotional card I do not respect.

When they can show me a Union card, they can ride the jumpseat. And that's endorsed by Section 115.E.2 of the ALPA Administrative Manual. You should read it sometime.
Instead, you (with you obvious lack of experience and credentials) think you have the gravitas to lecture US about the jumpseat. Laughable at best.
GoJet is union though (teamsters)?
No way. I love your posts. They're PERFECT for demonstrating erroneous thinking. Let's have more.
You know what, Velo, you're right. I'll take the kid off ignore and constantly point out how wrong he is from now on. That will be more fun, anyway.![]()
Especially because you know everything about aviation and the industry.![]()
Right or wrong, is it possible those two just might have a little more insight than you?Especially because you know everything about aviation and the industry.![]()
Compared to guys like calcapt and Velo, I know nothing. Compared to you, I'm a frickin' encyclopedia.
You need to listen to those with more experience, because you're rapidly burning bridges left and right. Your real name is right there on your website, so you aren't just hurting your "internet persona," you're hurting your real-life career opportunities. Unless you have some sort of amazing turnaround, and real quick, there are members of this site, myself includes, that will do everything we can to make sure you never work where we do. Consider the consequences of your smart-ass actions.
I hope you understand I'm not calling you "wrong" or them "right," I'm saying you lack credibility because of your very low experience level.
GoJet is union though (teamsters)?
...but since it is not be all end all ALPA there are problems.
Especially because you know everything about aviation and the industry.![]()

Threats? // Your maturity shines through PCL.
I certainly don't want to get into an opinion discussion - you are certainly entitled to them. But, you have a choice whether or not to write those opinions in a post. As a self proclaimed newbie, wouldn't it be better to read and ask questions rather than deliver opinions about a profession you don't do yet, but aspire to do one day?If you don't like or agree with what I am saying then thats a OK. I am a newbie trying to form my own opinions. My opinions are set until I gather the appropriate knowledge or experience to change them. PCL likes to make threats and attempt to throw his weight around when he is a bigger scab then GoJets. He paid for a seat and took it over a more experienced pilot were GoJets pilots are good pilots with possibly a bad managment. I am sure I will get a warning for this while PCL will not but whatever.

Thats low. you dont have any ground to call someone a "scab" considering you're support of a scab airline!PCL likes to make threats and attempt to throw his weight around when he is a bigger scab then GoJets.
