Realignment Round 2 at 9E

I couldn't do it. I couldn't give up the 16 day off 88-90 hour lines of credit in JFK to probably go back to sitting reserve in MEM. I actually still wind up with more days off total commuting than I would sitting reserve. Now, I DID leave MEM -900 as my #1, but the odds of getting that are pretty slim.

Yeah, I am definitely not use to having no open time. When I went to look what was out there for next month in IAD there were only like four standups and that was it. I wonder what it will be like not having my phone ring on my days off.

It is a really odd feeling when they don't call.... it feels like you are unwanted at first... and then reality sets in and you realize it is freedom.

Even better is when they call after you've picked up open time offering you more flying. Dude, I'm on a 4 hour min day at 150% to DEADHEAD from DTW-MEM. Why am I gonna pick up another turn that would get me back SIX HOURS later? It's also nice to know I'm not gonna get in trouble if I don't call them back.
 
Looks like the award is delayed due to a software issue with displacement caps. No word on when it'll come out now.

Word homie... this is how my latest phone call went while I was on vacation... "Hello scheduling... you'd like me to do what? Well I appreciate that offer of a JRM but see the problem is I have already been JRM'd six times this year..... thats correct you cannot JRM anymore this year.... uh huh.... uh huh.... well my contract doesn't include a section on "favors" so lets negotiate.... you say you can't negotiate?.... bummer.... well I don't do charity work and if y'all want to pay 500% for each day of that 4 day I will be available... alright have a good day to you too!"

They can't JRM you on vacation anyway.....

Not that they won't try.

This is a good question. Just for s&gs I went back to see how many displacements there were on 11-08. Over 100 if you count all the voluntaries as well (which you should since they're taking someone's place) as well as phantoms (which you might not, but there were less than 10 of those anyway). Makes me wonder if a) this award is gonna ruin everyone's QoL or b) 11-08 went WAY over the caps and needs to be tossed out the window.
 
Under the old contract, they couldn't JRM you on vacation. They called me the day before vacation once, and I answered just to F with them.


"HELLO! We've got a trip we're junior assigning for in open time tomorrow. Your show time is 7:35 am."
"Oh, gee. That's nice and all.....but I start vacation tomorrow."
"Oh....um.....well, do you think you can help us out?"
"Well, I'd LOVE to, but ya see, I'm still waiting for the favor to be paid back from the last time I helped you out.....3 years ago."
