QX2059 Jumpseater tries to shutdown engines

To be fair, when was the last time you saw a 115lbs FA?

I remember years ago, when the FFDO program was just being implemented, a new hire performed a 'traffic stop' following a road rage incident near the airport and stated "he was a law enforcement officer" , produced his brand spanking new mini musket to achieve compliance with the law !
Needless to say that the responding city cops were from PHL and well versed in the law. He was promptly bagged, stuffed and taken to jail. Probably lost his job too.

Was that the GoJets pilot?

Looks like a mental issue, that's sad. Mental illness is real and among us.
If indeed that's the case I hope he gets the help he needs, and people leave his family alone.
That probably also explains why they were able to subdue and coach him to the rear without any further major problem.

It's so messed up they show pics of his wife and kids, house, etc.

The real heros and ones we should know the names of are those Horizon guys.

They deserve effing medals. Probably went to work pissed off at mainline and then save 80 lives. Freakin studs.

Geeze. That’s incredibly sad, and really just adds to the oddness of this whole situation. The photos of their house decorated for Halloween really did it for me…. Poor family totally torn apart now.

So, hypothetically, if cockpit jumpseating was ever placed on hold or worse, but jumpseaters could still go sit in the back, would that still be a large hit system-wise?

I don't know system-wide, but I'd basically almost never be able to get in or out of ANC.

This is why you keep your social medias locked down - or just don’t have them..

I don’t know the FO, but the Capt was a QX lifer (so no reason to be pissed at mainline)…solid dude, two kids that are fantastic pilots. I don’t know if he knew the AS Capt, but it’s highly likely.

I broke the news to his daughter lastnight (she’s SWA pilot) and I hope I never have to break news like it again.

I hope they do get recognised for being professionals of the highest order.

A friend brought this up to me… what IF, and I mean a big IF, the jumpseater reached up and tried to pull a fire handle by mistake? I’ve flown a few types that have handholds in the general area of where the T handles are on this airplane. Getting up to stretch legs, go take a lav break? Total brain fart, reached up without looking? Never flown a 175 but are the handles only able to be pulled if there is a fire indication or hitting a lock override if there isn’t? Something to consider however unlikely it may be. I’m assuming that would have been sorted out before all the charges were filed but that would be a wild outcome. Also made me think if airbus designed their fire switches with the guard and push button style to prevent some one from inadvertently pulling a handle on the back of the overhead
