GRRRR!!! Still no scores, sometime this week I hope. I've got a tour of the Spokane Tower on Friday, hopefully I can have some good news to brag about.

For those that have already taken your tours, did you get any time with the facility manager? Were you able to ask that they review your app. with special interest? I've heard they are able to request you, no?

I really would love to go on a tour of a few facilities I have in mind, but they're all cross-country...

Who is giving you the tourat GEG? Are you hoping for GEG? Have fun, it is a sweet tower.

Yes I met the operations manager of the center I visited, and he gave me his card. So I sent him a thank you and I'll email him when I get my score and then again when I get my geo preference so that he knows I'm applying there.

I met the manager of a tower also, but haven't really been keeping in touch with him. I think I'll go check out a TRACON next week. Or maybe another tower.
Which facility do you want to go to?(You may have already answered this some where else).

Any particular reason behind choosing center only, or is it just what you prefer?

Few reasons:
1. better $$$
2. seems like it's a stable place to train
3. you know you won't get assigned to a place you'll likely wash out at like a high lever TRACON or whatever (ATLTracon has scared me out of that!)
4. I'm under the impression you have a better shot at transferring from center to tower than from tower to center.

I wasn't impressed by the tower I visited. Yeah, you have windows, but you're cooped up with a bunch of dudes all day. Not sure about that. Then again, the tower I visited was tiny.

I chose both, but am hoping for either ZTL or Memphis Center, mostly for the same reasons. The guy that gave me the tour of ZTL was over the training department, and said you nearly have to want to washout of ZTL to washout.

I was under the same impression regarding centers' stability of training, but the FAA rep. present at my test that I spoke to the other day said that sometimes, in major cities, the towers have very efficient training programs, whereas sometimes, in a center, you might be fighting with 40 others for instruction time, and end up completing the program much later. I'm not sure the validity of this, but he seemed legit.

I believe it, but even so it seems like going for a center position is the safer bet.

I'm going through enough in this application process... I don't want to end up washing out because of things that are mostly out of my hands.

I am going back and forth about choosing only center as well. I have already made preferences stating that I would go to either, but I may change it to En-route only as I really want to go to ZLA as it is close to where I live, and there are really no other places worth going to that are close enough for me to commute. I would hate to have someone else go there instead of me simply because they said center only and I didn't. I guess I will just have to pray on it and see what happens.

...so I see I'm not the only one who checks Jetcareers in the middle of the night. Hey, if we're in OKC all together, I'm making us geeky t-shirts.

P.S. Tower for me. At least that's the end goal. I want to see the planes I'm talking to, even if it's not for the whole time. I'll need one that keeps busy, too... so it may need to be that I start off somewhere slower and build up to it to keep from biting off more than I can chew at first.

The waiting part is very true, I met a guy while touring ZTL that said after a year of training he had just finished his first D-Side Stage, and was just starting stage two. The guy giving me the tour said that the wait may even become worse due to the large wave of new hires in FY09.

There's not much to see. They're big, pretty, white planes with red stripes, curtains in the window, and wheels, and they look like a big Tylenol. You see one, you've seen 'em all.

But... but... weird south Jersey girl... I want to look at the planes
