I know, I am just bored to death at work, so i am just posting anywhere i can. I guess i can not complain to bad, I am getting paid to check up on Jet Careers and in about 8 hours i will be on the way to Gulf Shores to spend the weekend deep sea fishing with some buddies of mine:nana2:

ZNY is the New York enroute center, and yes you are right about the timeline with a lot of waiting in between.

There are quite a few facilities in and around Houston... which facility do you want info for?

I know absolutely nothing about anything in Houston, but you seem to have a specific facility in mind and that would help find someone else who has info :)

Do it to keep your name in the pool... if you're not selected from your first application, you'll have another one coming right after it. You won't be considered for future announcements unless you apply to them.

I'd suggest touring wherever you want to go just to make sure it is what you want. I've toured both Houston Center and Bush Tower. The center was poorly laid out was as dark as expected . They were remodeling it when I went through so hope it is a little better now. The tower was pretty tight though. The guys up there were chill and it didn't seem too out of control.

Porshee I keep running into you. In another thread you said that you took your test on the 14th in peachtree city, GA. I took the test with you that date. I was the guy that the trainers made fun of because of my huge bottle of water... anyways. Here we are... so far so good. Good Luck to you.

I think the person you might want to get in touch with is Lawn Gnome...he works at hobby airport and seems to know Houston fairly well.
 
I've been trying to decide whether to choose terminal or enroute. I need to stay in the Chicago area and I'm kind of afraid to choose terminal and be offered somewhere in Southern Illinois.

However, I just visited the tower at O'Hare and it was awesome! Everyone up there said to stay away from the center.

I guess it's time to visit ZAU and see what I think.

I would choose terminal. If you get put somewhere besides ORD, at least you're in the system and can transfer later. :)

I think in the geo. pref. email you can choose counties so if I were you I'd list all the Chicago counties and choose both Terminal/Enroute. Tell me what you think of ZAU when you get around to going there, I'm going to put Illinois down too.

Is there any chance an OTS can be placed at O'Hare being that high of a level?
 
From what I understand, yes, it just takes longer to get certified for things and you slowly move up.

As far as the discussion on terminal or en route, unless your dead set on one, at least tour both if you can so you get a taste of what both atmospheres are like. I personally want terminal.

i dont know how to turn off the title cap or whatever it is called. i really dont know much about using the computer so if you can tell me how to turn it off that would be useful

I'm going to try to visit ZAU next week.

I think that it is always a possibility to be placed at ORD, but like someone else said, it would take longer to certify.

If anyone lives in the area and is considering ORD one day, I suggest going to visit. They're very laid back. I work at ORD so I just called on a break and they brought me right up.

Anyway, thanks for all the responses. I appreciate everyone's input!
 
well, if you get picked up PUBNAT 6 I guess it could be up to a year...especially since things seem to be slowing down. Maybe someone else has their own idea, but it seems that for Pubnat 2 the timeline is shaping up to be somewhere in the 9 month range...I guess we will have to wait and see for sure.
