Pubnat 5/6

lol drug test, you should know the results of that one within a matter of days, I'd bet they dont even send out the security questionnaires till after the drug test results are in.

Nah, I'm not even calling my rep....I'm just calling the front desk at AC. I give her my name, last four of social, and she updates me on what is in, that's all. Even if I were calling my rep, it won't stop a bureaucracy, cause you and I both know, if they don't want to talk, they wont answer, and if they dont have any news for you, they dont call back. It takes like 15 seconds.....so, 15 seconds out of 604,800 seconds in a week....pft, I'll take my 15 seconds, even if it sends me to the file.

I know guys that call for updates twice to four times a week, that's a bit overkill.

UTAMAV:bandit:

Check your math... there may be 604,800 seconds in a week, but that's based on a 24 hour work day. There are only 144,000 seconds in a work week. Take out an hour for lunch each day, and you're left with 126,000. Take out two 15 minute breaks (assuming they're hourly and not salaried -- if they're salaried, you KNOW they take more breaks :)), and you're left with 121,500 seconds, barring any other distractions.

That's 6.75 hours a day to deal with applicants that have made it past panel selections. I have no idea how many applicants they handle, but I'd wager a guess of maybe 500 applicants per rep. If each person called once a week, and the call only lasted for ONLY 15 seconds, we collectively shaved another 7,500 seconds (2 hours, 5 minutes) off of their productivity time. Factor in all the nonsense e-mails we send to "keep ourselves on their radar", and you probably take another third of their time (maybe 8 hours per week?).

Now the rep is left with only 23 hours a week to do his/her regular HR work of FOLs, facility transfers, meetings, ATO correspondence, paperwork filing, faxing, requesting information from applicants, etc.

I'd like to give my rep a hug for the hard work I know she's put in just to get me through to this point. I'm just as frustrated with the process, having applied almost a year and two months ago, and having been waiting with all clearances back since April 14th. With as few reps as there are, I can only imagine the stress they're under, especially since the PUBNATs started. Getting adjusted to a new hiring process while simultaneously squeezing thousands of applicants through is probably more of a pain than childbirth. I say that as a male-- so women, don't blast me for not knowing that true pain. ;)

They have assistants to help with FOLs and other stuff. I've been to the HR building and although they're busy, it's nowhere near as hectic in there as you'd think.

And, for what it's worth, is there anyone who has not received MMPI results? Most of the guys i've talked to have received their MMPI results but are lacking security, medical. I have passed medical, security, and drug but not MMPI. I haven't received any bad news (no news, good news thing), but it would be nice to know I passed.

UTAMAV:bandit:

I don't have my mmpi results but I just got out of the pepc a few weeks ago - so I am not expecting it soon

Thanks for raining on my parade, Sam. :laff:

Maybe it's the people pleaser in me, or maybe it's the tech support position I currently hold, but something makes me wary of calling my rep because I don't want to be a nuisance.

Edit: Crap, I didn't realize I'd start the last two pages in a row, but hooray for 70 pages in this thread!

I feel your pain on the tech support note.

We ALMOST got to play in the TSS tonight.. ALMOST!! (4 days into Initial Tower Cab, FYI) but the damned thing crashed!!!

I was plugged in as LC ready to issue that LearJet his landing clearance... But, no voices from the imaginary pilots inside the computer... *sigh* I just want to press the button! Just once!

Until tomorrow.. Maybe then I'll have something blog-worthy

Traditional route is all different than PEPC. PEPC folks get it done the same day as the interview, but traditional route folks should be in touch with their HR rep... or you can search the 5/6 thread for more specific info.

most of us around here went to a PEPC. I would say bug whoever you are dealing with out of OKC to until you get an appointment for your physical. I interviewed on June 19 and I got my TOL and traditional packet around Jul 8 I think, then the next day I got the ATL PEPC invite and I chose to go that route

You know what I don't understand...and I'm not bitchin here.....What is the point of a "conditional" security clearance? The question isn't rhetorical...I mean, what is the reason for saying someone (i.e. me) has a conditional clearance? Why not wait until it's all back? Is there a specific reason for this....'cause to my knowledge, they don't issue class dates to folks with a conditional clearance....or am I wrong?

Thanks for the input guys

You're wrong, they do issue them. Some people are even at their facilities while on a conditional clearance.

Oh, I didn't realize that. Maybe that's my fate.....or not, we'll see. I doubt I will get a class date before the end of the year....that what I'm thinking at least.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you even sign a form at or before the academy saying that you understand that if they find something that would prevent them from issuing a full security clearance that you might be delayed further while they look into it.

Conditional means none of the major things were flagged. No crimes where your prints are involved, no felony warrants, etc. They still have a lot of reasearch to do on you. Gaining a Secret can take anywhere from 3 months to a full year. You can go to the Academy with only a conditional clearance. Waiting for everyones FULL security clearance would delay the process even more.

Has anyone else, who went to ATL PEPC, had to get additional testing done??? I faxed the info 3 times and then emailed everything to H.W. and no response. All I want is a ..."ok everything recieved email/call". Everything came back normal but, I just don't want to fall behind in the clearences. Thanks

I went to ATL 8/4 and aside from a receipt confirmation email from the records guy I have not heard a thing from anyone. I guess I'll take that as good news at this point.
