I mean I'm not color blind by any means, I am just red-green color deficient whatever that means, I just can't see some of the numbers on the Ishihara Plates :mad: apparently there are other tests you can take to substitute it like the Farnsworth Lantern and a few others I read about. But as of now, I am reading articles from google on how to memorize the numbers based on memorizing the dots and colors or something like that lol..

Um, maybe I need to be taught, but, if you can't tell the difference between green and red, how does that not make you color blind to green and red? It sounds like "color deficient" is a nice way to say it.

I can tell perfectly the difference between green and red.

Well, you know that everything has to be P.C. these days. If they call someone "color blind" they might get sued.

/Because being color blind is an insult or can make someone feel singled out. :sarcasm:

They could issue a letter to them in red and green letters.
 
Color Deficient really does mean color deficient, not color blind. He can see primary green and red just fine...but there is a (no pun intended) gray area. Light green and red mixed with a lot of yellow or blue...60% of men's eyes aren't as Efficient at differentiating that...making them color DEficient.

As far as I know there are only a certain number of plates out there...and you can find the answers, making it possible to memorize them. A better bet is to go get tested now...and ask a flight surgeon about alternative tests that you can take in case you fail.

Then you can go into the PEPC having already been "re-evaluated", before they fail you the first time.
 
I'm going to OKC on Saturday to pick up a plane and fly it back to NY. I'm gonna check up on things at headquarters and take pictures...
 
wow all this talk about memorizing color plates. it remionds me of my brother when he was learning to fly he wasnt cleared. the flight surgeon told him go home memorize the plates and come back. seriously why do you need to be tested for color deficiency when your not going to be dealing with green lights and light green lights. there either red or there greenno inbetween.
 
Yep...we crazy alternate religion types freak if you point out why everyone's celebrating and shopping. We choose instead to sleep under a thick blanket of denial.

So the last rumor I heard was selection panels start on the 27th. Two more weeks and we should know something!

I really just wanted to wake this thread up a little bit. Last time they went inactive for a couple days a whole new one got started!
 
So here's the next question: If you've been selected at the panel, how long until you hear about it? And then if you haven't, how long should you wait before giving up hope?
