Pubnat 5/6

Congrats to everyone who received emails, and good luck in your careers. Sadly, I was not selected. I applied for PUBNAT6 and PUBNAT6 only. If there is another PUBNAT in July (as has been speculated), it won't do me much good to apply for it, as I turn 31 in November.

Anyway, I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of "the list" that someone either on here or on StuckMic compiled that showed who got picked up, where they're going, center/terminal, and wether they were CTI/OTS/VRA. I've tried looking for it, but can't find it.

Thanks in advance!

And to weigh-in on the process:

At the expense of sounding bitter, this process is long, drawn-out, and inefficient, and I think that any independent and objective observer would agree. It is a shame, too, because the FAA needs you just as much as you need them. It is in the FAA's interest to make this process as streamlined as it can be to get you from wherever you are into a tower or center.

But then again, I'm talking about an organization that still relies on technology nearly 70 years old, so maybe efficiency isn't one of their strong suits.

Good luck guys!

On another note, has anyone who got picked up this week or late last week recieved any email back after accepting their offer to interview? If I don't hear back by mid-afternoon I'm gonna be on the phone with ACD. My rep is C.C. Anyone know anything about her?

I called my rep(K.U.) today and left a message. She called back within five minutes and confirmed the receipt of my e-mail accepting the interview. She said that I will be contacted "soon" by an ATM to schedule the time/date.

I'd suggest not wearing glasses then. You don't have to not wear your contacts...I think it just makes it easier. You are allowed to test with them, but they just want you to know that you will have to take them out at some point as well, and to be prepared for that.

When you take the vision test, the only thing that matters is your vision is 20/20. Doesn't really matter how you get there.

And to Zoesmom- I just wore my glasses to the PEPC and left my contacts in the hotel room. I didn't have to prove 20/20 in both glasses and contacts, and I passed with flying colors.

Get used to sending something in, dropping an e-mail, etc., and getting no response. Sometimes I'd get a confirmation stating they had received a form I e-mailed to them (don't bother faxing stuff, just scan it, convert to pdf, and e-mail it to your rep). However, with my FOL docs, it wasn't until about 2 weeks before I was in OKC that I received any kind of acknowledgment about those forms that I sent in over a month before.

You *should* get contacted for your interview in the next 2-3 weeks. Some ATMs will start making appointments as soon as they get the lists, although some take their sweet time. Fortunately the admin assistant that called me was on top of things and called me as soon as the interview list hit her desk. If you do not hear anything after 3 weeks, make a call to your HR rep to find out what is going on. It is OK to call when you haven't heard anything in a while, just don't be one of these people who calls 2-3 times a week to find out the status of this or that. You will find that your HR rep will be more willing to help and will respond to you faster if you don't pester them all the time.

Once you have completed your interview with a local ATM, you will need to stay on top of HR to get your TOL. I know they are busy, but you've got to be proactive or your application will get processed whenever they get around to it.

I received my email back just a few hours after I responded. You should get an e-mail very soon if not call.

Greg1016 -C.C. is my rep as well - I was able to get thru to her - she was very nice/helpful. I called her b/c i hadn't heard back re: the pepc time slot. i was worried my email wasn't received - turns out enroute was filled up and i'm going the traditional route

Yeah I called her today, as it turns out she replied to me shortly after I had sent the email, but it never left her outbox, I got it now, ty.

This airmen medical form is stupid....I can't remember half the stuff on here! I just know I'm going to miss some minor detail, and then be delayed by like 8 months.

Are you talking about the 8500 form? Your going to fill the real one out at PEPC. You can take the 8500 form you sent to T.O with you to the PEPC if you need to reference from it.

Yea I know...it was still annoying though. I'm not sure it actually got sent to T.O. though, you were supposed to send those forms to a different email address.

I faxed all my doc to them. Hopefully it got through. If we don't start getting anything back from her by June 8 week regarding the E-QIP, I guess its time to worry :panic:

General consensus is that you'll have to get recertified.

Yes, you will.

Even though the FAA will not let you fly (officially) on the one granted for ATC purposes, they can certainly use the one you get for this job to screw up your existing medical. Been there, done that, got the letter from CAMI stating that "upon further review, I have been found worthy for a 2nd class medical" even though neither doctor found anything wrong with me to begin with. Grrr.....

I interview on tuesday. I'm excited to get the process started. Hopefully it doesn't take 10 years :)

Nice! I hope all goes well :)

On a side note, I just got back from the eye doc. I have 20/30 vision.

First time ever going to an eye doc and boy that eye pressue test made me jump a bit. She told me I will feel some air but didn't think it was going to be a shot of air.

Anywho, I will be picking up my glasses next week. I have to say, things sure did look clearer, although I still think I see perfectly fine without it.
The eye doc commented on how people don't know what "real clear" vision is until they put on glasses (if they need them of course).
So now I have 20/20 vision.

So again, I HIGHLY recommend getting an eye exam for the PEPCers, you just never know.

That is all. Continue on! :panic:

I'd have to say the same.. You never know what clear vision is until you get it corrected. Best decision I ever made :D
